The problem with the two that you want is that they can only come with Vista.

I'll give you some examples of about what you could pull off with what you chose on the Vaio.

You could probably have about 5 web pages up at the same time without noticing much lag, or you could have iTunes, Microsoft Word, and maybe a web page up, that is if you had Windows XP.

If you want to get Windows Vista, you almost have to upgrade to 2gb of memory if you don't want it to be slow. I suggest Windows XP, but the problem is that it's going to be hard to find a computer at Best Buy that has Windows XP. you would have to buy XP then install it on your computer. Ask a person at Best Buy what kind of XP you would have to get.

Or, You could get a Vostro. I recommend this laptop to almost everyone if they want a Windows laptop. Dell Vostro's comein Windows XP or Vista, and they can be customized with either just a little bit or a lot.

In Comsumer Reports magazine's computer company ratings, Apple got 1st, Lenovo got 2nd, and Dell got 3rd.

i can't have self assurance no one stated Sony Vaio. ok cleansing soap field time. Sony Vaio is between the ultimate computers because of the fact the eastern do no longer enable many engineering blunders. look at Toyota, Honda, and different eastern company that has come to usa and purchased products. each and every company has had a much better high quality point than made in usa does. Secondly, study the pc questions. There are merely some that ***** some Vaio difficulty. Thirdly, I very own one and could in no way purchase a dell or HP returned. IMO a Vaio is on an identical point that a Mac is on. the precise! I digress Have a great day.

I only use DELL, I bought laptops for myself, my husband, and my kids from DELL. If I were going to buy from a store like Best Buy i'd probably look for HP and i'd stay away from EMachines and Compaq. The HP's tend to have an Athlon Processor and these can often be upgraded without going back to the manufacturer. Make a list of questions to ask as the "Geek Squad" at Bestbuy tends to know their stuff!

I don't like Vista personally. I bought all of ours with XP mainly because I do alot of graphics and photo editing and my photoshop program is not compatible with Vista. Vista seems to be the future for now though and a lot of people are using it so you'll have to decide which you prefer. If you already have an investment in software that is designed for XP then you may want to ask if it's compatible with Vista..also if you are on a network in your home like Linksys that will make a difference depending on what it supports and what the others are running.

To me, the best brand is the one that has the best price. I've bought 6 pcs so far and they all worked just fine. Duo processors are great, they do more work in less time. Vista has a few problems, I liked xp better. If you get vista make sure it has at least 1GB (1024) of system ram--vista needs more ram than xp did. Desktops have more power for less money than laptops do, if you play power hungry games a lot. Most laptops come with wireless lan nowdays--its handy if you arent always home when you use your pc.

get something that has a CORE2DUO, coz thats the best processor for laptops these days. at least 80 GB HDD and at LEAST 1GB DDR. Supports WIFI (well most laptops do these days) and has a dvd drive burner.

Now if your into gaming, thats a different story, you might want a laptop with at LEAST 256 MB video card memory.

Now if you follow my instructions, you will have come home with a very decent notebook. Anything less than that would be not good. (well really depends on what you plan on doing)

I can't suggest any brand but I have had only HPs and IBMs. I personally do not like Dell.
I will suggest though that, you get 2GB or greater of RAM and some large hard drive space (>80GB)
If you like games and movies, get one with good graphics card.
Yeah Vista sucks. XP Professional is very good.
