Hello.

I'm selling my used item on the website (similar to ebay, but the website does not have any responsiblity), and company's agent contacted me that their client wants to buy my item by paying a check.

They don't tell me who their client is, and their client's address is unknown. Moreover, I just accepted it, and they sent a check to me about 2 days ago. In addition, they will give me the shipping address by email as I receive their payment.

It looks alright, but is it really reliable and safe?

I haven't seen a company that works as a used item agent, and that is why I worry about it.

I haven't received their check yet, I am waiting for it.

If the bank verfies that a check is clear, is it clearly safe then?

Is there any possiblity that it is a scam even though a check is clear?

before you deposit the check, look at the BANK on which it is drawn. Then CALL THAT BANK and give them the numbers from the BOTTOM of the check (routing code and account number). They can verify for you if that is a real account and if it has funds in it enough to cover the check you received. DO NOT SHIP until you confirm the funds are there.

Check the BBB (Better Business Bureau)
Is the check from the Company or the individual?
Check with the bank that the check is from also.
And don't send your product or spend any money off of that check until that check clears.

This really sounds like a scam to me personally.

It's a classic scam. You lose your money and the item.
