Do you have any particular feelings about any topic? It should be something you care about and want to persuade others to agree with.

- raise or lower legal driving age
- raise or lower legal drinking age
- raise or lower punishment for drunk driving
- enact laws to prohibit driving while on cell phone
- enact school uniforms
- public smoking ban

Do NOT do a topic like abortion, religion, politics, capital punishment, etc. Everyone has their hard set opinion about that issue, and you won't be persuading anyone to agree with your point. Stay off of those hot topics.

There are a ton of things you can do....all you need to remember is to convince someone you're right.

It could be to quit smoking, or to ban smoking in bars/restaurants in your area (if it's not already). It could be something political, but generally, that's going to require a lot of research as most political topics are pretty deep (if you want to do it right anyway).

The merits of buying a hybrid versus a regular car. Gas versus Ethanol.

So many to choose from!

Students should/shouldn't be able to carry utility knives on their persons.

The driving age should/shouldn't be changed to 18.

Requiring students to wear school uniforms would/wouldn't increase learning.

Smoking should/shouldn't be allowed in all public places.

There you are--one example for each topic category. ; )

Good luck!

Ypu can write a persuassive essay about anything. As long as there is an opposite side to your topic. For example you can write about the presdential elections. . one side would be why a woman would make a good president. Or you can choose the opposite side like saying why only guys should be presidents.

Write about something your truly care about. Hate smokers? Write about how bad it is to smoke and all the negative affects it brings. Think uniforms take away the sense of personality? Write about it! When it comes to writing, especially persuasive paragraphs, you definitely have to be passionate about what you write. "Write what you feel."

How about writing a paragraph on trying to get someone to quit smoking...
You could also try writing about persuading someone or others, to go "green" and help to clean up the environment...
Maybe you could write on what you might need for a christmas gift...and try to persuade someone to buy it for you for christmas...
