Others brought up one important point... if you had the engine changed, there could have been a core charge on your bill. If there is, then that engine in your garage will get you that core charge back. Now, if you have any mechanical talent, see about cleaning up that engine in your spare time, even with help. It could be a good project for you and a local school kid interested in auto mechanics. That is how I started actually wayyyyy back when I was a kid... lol. If you are not, then cleaning it up some and taking to a scrapyard will get you some cash, or do some digging around and see if you can sell it to someone in need of that size engine.

Did you buy a rebuilt engine or a junkyard unit? If you bought a rebuilt engine there most likely was a core charge that you paid, and when you bring the old engine to them, you will get back!

If you got a junkyard engine, you may be able to sell the old motor for scrap or as a core. Do not expect to get much for it.

Yes, but probably not very much. Your best bet would be to contact a local wrecking yard to see how much they'd pay for it...

or a local scrap dealer for the metal, if the core has no mechanical value.....

if u turn it in as a core about 300.00-400.00 at scrap 5.00-15.00 depending on the scrap market price for that day . if you have time to kill you can clean the aluminum (getting all non aluminum metals out of the aluminum parts)you can get .50 -1.60 a pound depending on what kind of aluminum you have i do all of that when i swap peoples motors and they give it up i hope this helps
