Personally, I would not advise it, as canned Tuna is often found to have over-the-limit amounts of mercury. This interferes with normal tissue and possibly brain development. Mercury is also contained in some vaccines suspected of triggering autism in some infants. There are no solid proofs about the vaccines, but mercury remains a toxic chemical substance and the amounts in Tuna fish are not sufficiently monitored. Happy parenthood.

If your baby has already started eating solids and can chew properly it is probably okay as long as your baby isn't alergic. You can give your baby a small amount to try first then don't give anything else to him/her that he/she hasn't already eaten. You'll find out then if he/she is allergic. You should also probably get the okay from your nurse or doctor just to make sure there aren't any warnings on the tuna (or fish in general) since lately there have been oil and fuel spills in fishing waters.

they say you should wait till they are around one, but its up to the parent, if its in a tun and not fresh you can be sure its clean and had everything done to it to make it safe. I personally think that around this age you should try your children on as much as possible to stop them being a fussy eater, especially fish! its so good for them, my 3 yrs twins love prawns, crab sticks and tuna!

I think youre supposed to wait until the first year mark- but I fed it to my 9 month old, that was a month ago that I introduced it. And tilapia actually. He loved both, but I dont let him have it more than once every couple weeks, since there could be mercury in it.

Theres also NO food allergies that run in either side of the family, or extended family. That makes a difference.

Fish is always an iffy thing. If you have any allergies at all you should wait until the baby is a year. But just make sure you don't give the baby alot. You should ask you Ped.

Check how much salt (if any) is in it. Shouldn't be given too often as it contains mercury which can be bad for brain development in large amounts.

It should be ok , but start with a very small quantity and see if there is any reaction . Also you have to be careful about salt content
