I also sufferd a lot from this prblem.Then I used modem trouble shooter, in which you can get update driver option, update wizard will open,then inset driver CD,and leave every thing on god your modem will be OK.Thank You.

If you are using XP go to start, programs, administrative tools, computer management. Under Device Manager, you will see Modems then Standard Modem. Right click on that and choose update Driver.

check that you have it connected correctly to the filter etc
remove the modem from the computer
go to start> control panel> add remover program ms and uni-stall the modem
restart your system
insert the cd that came with your modem and make sure you have the correct user name and password and HAVE administrator Privileges
post again if your still having probs x

if the driver disk is bad you may have to download the drivers. for now uninstall, restart the computer, and try to install again

Very sorry for your situation. I too experienced these sort ot things.
Related things to PC-Internet-virus-Hardware/Software, etc are always open invitaion to headache and sleepless nights.

right click my computer on desktop...then properties then hardware....you will see modemsclick on that and right click to update driver.
