i was born to a poor-poor humble farming family, I dropped out of school to help on the farm,i picked up a few dollars by pickin and singing at local fairs, in 1936 i debuted on a Jackson,Tn radio station, got my own show in 1942 on wjts, 1948 signed with RCA VICTOR..made numerous apperances on MILTON BERLE -ARTHUR GODFREY-PERRY COMO SHOWS before HOSTING my own SHOW on ABC and NBC...was sometimes called 'THE COUNTRY FRANK SINATRA"!
