While I dont agree that only a blue collar person can represent the majority of Americans, I do wish there was a blue collar person to vote for now an again. The problem isnt that no blue collar people ever run for congress or other high level offices, it is that when they do, they are cast aside quickly by the VOTERS who claim they must be inexperienced and wouldnt be able to succeed in the political arena with the life long politicians. People hate to face reality but it is the VOTERS that have stuck us with what we have/have had
I love it, a thumbs down because someone doesn't want to admit that it is infact the voters of this country who have the power. We are the ones who vote for those wealthy lawyers and business leaders; without our vote, they could not get anywhere. Until people admit to their part in this scheme, the results will never change. Blaming everyone and everything else has never solved a problem.

Considering the USA has been fundamentally shifting from manufacturing to services, the "majority of the USA" would probably be wearing a WHITE collar.

We call our leaders Senators, Representatives, and President. yet, their behaviour is comparable to Earls, Dukes, and Kings. very corresponding to nobility of yester Europe, those so noted as leaders are chosen from a constrained pool of the elite, the place blood lines, Ivy League training, and family contributors historical past in many cases supply the only skills of a candidate. those human beings are no longer common human beings. Hailing from their Ivory towers, they have little concept of the plight of those whom they in many cases verify with as "the little human beings". those are no longer the lads of inventive and prescient representative of our fore fathers. those are men of greed and self value, who place a great way extra advantageous emphasis upon holding their very own status and means above love of u . s . or concept-appropriate to the activity of hetero forward voters. Their loyalty lies no longer with the country, yet incredibly to their respective Political events, whose survival and ideologies supply the avenues for their persisted status. basically voters have the means to "substitute" this. in spite of if or no longer they have the will is yet another question.

You will never get a president who is blue collar at the time of his election. It costs way too much. You would have to support Fed funded campaigns.

It starts with a simple premise, corporations are not entitled to the same constitutional rights as a citizen but such rights the citizens grant them.

Very unlikely. Blue collar folks have little knowledge of foreign affairs and the understanding of the U.S. role in such matters. Political games play such a big role.

I am getting these awful visions of a dude in dirty jeans, a blue shirt, dirty hands, and all he is thinking about is his next 20 minute smoke break and hoping he gets off work in time to watch the next episode of the Simpson's. You will never see a true blue collar President in this country, and I thank god for that.

I think we need to learn the lessons of the Bush administration... do we really want another Larry The Cable Guy to run our country?

The best we will ever do is to have someone whose parents were blue collar. Right now, those candidates are Edwards, Kucinich, Giuliani, Thompson, and Huckabee,

Bill Clinton came from a blue collar background. I think Reagan and Nixon also came from blue collar backgrounds. I know they all came from the working and lower middle classes.
