I am 7 months pregnant and my husband and I really like the name Zoey for our child. Recently one of my friends said that Zoey was a dog's name. We really like the name but would never want her to be teased because she has a dog's name. Please tell me what you think!

I personally have never heard of Zoey as a dog name. I think for a little girl its very cute! And I know a couple of girls named Zoey. Don't let other talk you out of the name you want, I'm sure she will never be teased because of that name! Good Luck!

I think Zoey and Chloe are beautiful names for a little girl. I don't know the meaning of either, but that should be easy to find on the web. Our little boy is almost two, but before we knew he was a boy, Zoey and Chloe were the two frontrunners if we had a girl. Zoey is NOT a dog's name!!! Rover, Spot, Sir Barksdale, THOSE are dog's names.

Zoey is a great name for a child as long as you pair it with something more common for a middle name. I have never heard of a dog being named Zoey. Congrats and Good Luck!

I know many kids named Zoey. I have a niece named Zoey too. I hate Zoey for a dog's name, but, for a human's name I LOVE IT!

You know what--if you both like it it is a good name!!! What kind of friend would tell you that anyway. Doesn't sound like a friend at all. I happen to know a little kid named Zoey. Cute kid--looks nothing like a dog!!!

Oh, don't go by that! Any name can be a dog's name if someone gives it to their dog! I know of 2 Zoeys and I think it is a cute girl name. If you like it go for it. Kids aren't going to associate her name with a dog. Our dog's name is Maddie and I have a friend whose daughter's name is Madison (Maddie). I wouldn't think of telling her Maddie is a dog's name.

I love that name but I don't know any children named Zoey but I do know one dog named Zoey but alot of my friends have odd names like...Akina, Nyzania, Benta, Samike, and Other ones I can't think of

As a schoolteacher who has encountered hundreds of kids over the years, I can tell you Zoey is a good name. I prefer it with the Y in place because it makes it clear that it is a two syllable name. Spelling it "Zoe" would lead one to believe on first sight that it is a one-syllable name (rhyming with "Joe"). She would spend her whole life correcting people about how it's pronounced.
Something to think about.

I have known two beautiful little girls names Zoe/Zoey as well as a beagle. I think it's a great name for your daughter.
