The leaves are hers just like the fruit would be hers if it fell into her yard. Don't get mad though - thank her nicely for raking up the leaves and giving them to you because you LOVE to make compost out of them for the rest of your yard. She just saved you a lot of work! She'll probably stop doing it!

This is nuts! I live in a wooden community and we all have leaves from each others yards. WOW! What an interesting neighbor, but honestly? I can see some of my friends thinking like this. Who knows why people get such strange ideas in their heads sometimes!?!
If you can talk your self into "confronting" this neighbor (not in a mean tone), you might be able to solve the problem. Laughingly ask if he/she has any suggestions about what you should do to keep the leaves from falling on his yard. Ask if he'd like the tree removed. (doesn't mean you have to do that, but maybe the "shock value" of the idea would get through this person's strange thinking) Maybe talk about the value of the tree for shade, etc. And that you are "so sorry" you can't be out there every day to make sure the leaves aren't causing him a problem.
Maybe, the guy will realize that you are a reasonable person and feel bad that the tree is shedding on his yard and wish it wasn't. And maybe some day when you know he's looking, it would be okay to blow or rake the leaves up that are in his yard. That would be helpful. I wouldn't do it all the time, but a few scattered times wouldn't hurt. Communication and being a good neighbor might win this one for you.

The general rule is *your neighbor is being an a$$ ! Why waste the time/energy raking leaves and dumping them in your neighbors yard? She can bag them or put them on the curb for city clean-up ! It's not like you have much control over the trees ! Or where the leaves blow... We had a neighbor that would toss any sticks from our trees in our driveway.... UNTIL I tripped on them- I was 6 months pregnant on my way to my obgyn appt. My husband was furious and went to the neighbors house... He then started putting them on the tree lawn.. Good luck

Are you the only one in the neighborhood with a tree? How does the neighbor know that the leaves in his yard specifically came from your tree. I'm sure leaves blew into his yard from other trees around the neighborhood.
If he has a dog, I would dump a big pile of crap on his porch and tell him that it is his crap since he owns a dog, just like all the leaves in his yard are yours just because you own a tree.

Dont' have a clue as to what the general rule is. But, doesnt your neighbor realize the leaves will blow back into their yard? How immature of your neighbor. Tell them next time they gathers leaves you will furnish them with lawn bags to puy the leaves in. Then they can set the lawn bags on your property for you to dispose of..... Talk to your neighbor :) and Good Luck :)

you should grow another tree near her yard. It could be a thing for her whole family to do every fall. You could take the leaves she dumps, and turn it into compost :)

My theory was always to return to Caesar that which is rightfully his. I don't think there is really a rule though, if she were a decent neighbor she would pick the leaves up and dispose of them the same way that you do.

Just wondering, if it were a pecan tree would your neighbor gather all the pecans that fell on their side and return them to you? NOT.
Your neighbor is being ugly and must have a dreary life. I'd bake them some cookies and express my thanks to them for raking YOUR leaves. Maybe they'll realize just how petty they're being.
The general rule is they rake the leaves and dispose of them properly and then give thanks for the tree.

Tough s***! If it's in your yard, it's yours . That said, if SHE wants to go to the trouble of gathering up leaves for YOU, thank her for her efforts .If you can get her to shred them, and then put them on the compost pile , all the better . You get free fertilizer ,without having to do most of the work , and if she does it for spite, you'll deprive her of the satisfaction. ;D
ps I have neighbors who do that . They cut down all the undergrowth in their woods (They have the edges, I have most of it, along with most of the birds, etc ) , so now they have to go over the line, to not see the pile . Is that crazy, or is it me? ;D

She is just being a dipstick
But for good neighbourly relations I would accept them back provided she could identify them as yours say by make, model & serrial no
Sorry just kidding, return them to her and point out she is tresspassing on your property and if you get them back then pile them up untill the wind is blowing in the right direction and then burn them
