I would want Duncan Hunter as president. At least he has experience on the battlefront.

When the rat attacks the elephant it does not matter who is riding: the elephant will prevail. Every single argument the Bush Leaguers have directed at the opposing candidates could have been directed against Franklin Delano Roosevelt. How did he do?
The standard conservative slanders about the ability of their opponents to handle national defense issues ignores the Truth of history. Roosevelt led us through the Second War just as the arch liberal Wilson did through the first. John Kennedy won the Cold War through his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis, which forced the Soviets into escalating their military spending beyond their economy's ability to sustain it.
Even the much maligned Jimmy Carter managed to contain the jihadist threat in the Middle East by arranging a peace between Egypt and Israel that has lasted thirty years, through several outbreaks in the region.
I would rather see someone who understands that, powerful as we are, America needs to work with others to achieve a stable world. Perhaps a President whose vision includes those who disagree with him/her as equal citizens. Any president can pick a fight, but I would like one who can pick the right fight in the proper place.
The current incumbent invaded the wrong country, for example. Iraq, who had no connection either to the jihadists or to 9/11, would never have fought for Iran under the Baathist regime. We have destabilized the entire Middle East by sending the posse in to lynch a couple of suspects, with the political benefit of appearing decisive. All we got for it was some real estate we cannot hold and a population that we cannot win over.
Whoever becomes President cannot do worse than that. Their first four years will be spent digging us out of the hole George W. Bush has dug us.

whoever is the president at that time. simply because theres nothing anybody can do ones their elected. This people are all jenious on what they do its just their decision that makes a big difference. I just hope its the democratic party that will lead for so many reasons. besides, this will never going to happen cause where the only one who attack other countries, What happen to 9/11 is act of terrorism.

Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, or Geoerge H.W. Bush (Bush I). Even Bill Clinton would be fine. These are all men who demonstrated intelligence, wisdom, and appropriate restraint in the face of aggression and adversity.
I would not want Lyndon B. Johnson as president. Nor would I want George W. Bush (Bush II). These two (not coincidentally Southerners with low IQs) guys have/had their heads way too far up their behinds to appropriately manage a war...

You make big government officials so happy with the line of reasoning that appears to be behind this question.
The Bush Administration and Fox News have succeeded if there are many people out there who will relegate foreign policy and national security to essentially thinking of a Republican President as a strong daddy who will fight off scary robbers.
Answer: I honestly do not care at this point, and don't believe it matters as much as most people think it does.
