Yes, it is a better alternative than carbon based fuels. It would greatly reduce pollution, reduce costs, and reduce dependence on foreign nations.
India and the U.S. will develop better sources of power in the next decade or two. A more efficient and less dangerous nuclear fuel is one possibility along with new forms of renewable energy. Wind power, solar power, hydroelectric, bio-diesel, and coal have specialized uses that should not be ignored but are not nearly total answers to the problem.

Yes, Sweden gets 40 percent of its electricity from nuclear power, Finland gets 16 percent and is building a new reactor. If countries like these benefit greatly from it, then so can India. Nuclear reactors are an efficient source of electricity.

Whether they should or not, I doubt they will let another country dictate, their self determination.
