Zarqawi was nothing more than a common thug before he realized terrorism was a profitable trade. And the same story has been related by scores of other captured terrorists; from Afghanistan to Iraq, money drives many of them.

A civil war in that it is a battle for the control of power between the Shite and Sunni factions in Iraq. I am sure there are some hard core Al Quaeda groups in Iraq but it seems that anyone fighting against the US is given that label whether it is true or not. My nephew return recently from 14 months in Baghdad. His units patrols arrested many 'insurgents' and he said that probably 75% of them were Sunni with Saudi Arabia ID and papers. They did not call themselves Al Queda, they were Sunnis fighting for Sunnis.

No, it was The War of Northern Aggression.
Oh, you mean that Iraq thing? No, that wasn't even close to a real war. Jeb Stuart's cavalry could have put that down without calling for help. That Iraq thing was just a bunch of islamofascist hoodlums trying to make a mess. Sherman's laughing in his grave every time he hears some liberal call that little Iraq fight a war.

a civil war between Shia and Sunni, I'm not sure there really is an Al Queda any more except a catch-all phrase for people against the USA

The real scary part here is that the people with capital...ie the people that create and provide jobs have fled or are fleeing the country. Thus if you want a paying job you join one of these fighting units.

Wow, great article. I guess their economy is creating new jobs! But yes it does appear to fit the definition of a civil war. But there are a lot of mercenaries it appears.

It was never a civil war. The Media is waging its own war against America.
