I am not really sure if this is the mall you're talking about, but here is a really interesting and kind of cute webpage about the old Shoppers World.

Lots of neat old pictures of the area.

It wasnt demolished. They've added on to make it a collection now. Collections are for rich people and Malls are fo the poor. Natick wants a new image and having a LV and Burberry and other high end stores might draw the boston crowd towards the Natick way. Prudential is great but Natick gives you a different feeling now.

It was old and tired looking, built in an era when that land was cheap and far away from most shoppers. Now the area is more upscale and the land could accept something better and more profitable. Now they have a very upscale mall and some pricey condos there. Same land but more income from its use.

They didn't demolish it they just added on to it. It was timed with Filenes closing. It still has a lot of the same stores but they added a whole new wing.
