I totally used to do that when I was a little kid. Some bad tasting lipgloss shoud do the trick. If that bothers you, try strong scented chapstick. Good luck! (BTW, this stuff worked for me)

Well, as long as you haven't bitten it till it's raw and sore, you can try putting some nasty tasting stuff on it. (If it's sore and bleeding, be careful, it might sting!!!)
Try a throat or cold sore medicine. Chloraseptic spray is pretty nasty, you could try that. I don't recall what Vaseline tastes like, but that may be something. Mainly not for the taste, but just for having it in your mouth. (Don't just put it on your lip like lipgloss, put it inside your mouth. Also try on your teeth. My ballet teacher threatened us with Vaseline on our teeth if we didn't smile while performing. Supposedly it lets your lips slide on your teeth so you smile more easily. Try this, and see if it doesn't help you keep your lips away from your teeth. It feels gross, but it's better than biting your skin raw.)
Try chewing gum. It will give you something to do, instead of biting your lip, and you can alternate the gum and whatever you put on your lip so you won't have to taste that the whole time. As well as giving an alternative to having crap all over your lip while you are in public. :)
You can use hot sauce as well, unless you like really hot foods. It will burn your tongue, and that should keep you from biting. (This WILL burn your lip if you already have bitten it a lot. You may want to use the Vaseline or something until your lip heals some, before using the hot sauce or Chloraseptic!!)
Just don't forget to reapply whatever it is you use. If it wears off, you will go back to unconciously chewing on yourself.
God bless, and happy holidays!!!

Biting your lip IS an AWFUL habit! What I used to do was put a dab of nail polish remover on my lip so that whenever i bit it, It would taste awful and i would never want to bite it again. It worked! Hope this is helpful! Good luck!

Just tell yourself ' If I do that no one will want to kiss me!' It makes your lip red and hurt. No one likes seeing it either. I kinda have a habit of it. But not very much. You can get that thing that takes all the dead skin off your lip.

Carmex is an awesome lip balm. I do the same thing but if I don't have dry lips then there's nothing to bite...

Try a chapstick or any other lip balm to prevent your lips from chapping. That way you won't have any skin to peel off. :)

the only way to stop a habit is to create a (preferably less gross and harmful) habit
