I'm guessing you are buying from the dealer? If you are then a CPO bimmer is a good purchase. You can opt to by the extended warranty too for up to 100k. Overall the service pricing from the dealership can at times be a bit higher. Finding a good independent shop is the answer there. I found one local to my area and he's awesome, has saved me tons for me and my wifes car. You can do basic oil changes, that shouldn't be an issue. You'll eventually need a service 2 which is detailed here in this link.

Wrenching on your own car is fun at time, I'm sure you can do the basics, you can find more info on sites l like.

It is important to talk not only to the salesman but also the service advisors on the total cost of ownership.

Find out what services are covered and what are not under your warranties. And of those that are not, how much they could potentially cost you. Most owners new to BMW get a sticker shock when they see the cost of an Inspection 1 and Inspection 2 when their coverage expires.

And, if you are handy enough to do some simple maintenance such as oil change, air filter change..etc, that would certainly save you money. But make sure to check if your existing warranties (CPO or remainder of the new car warranty) would cover these anyway.

If this is a new car, the maintenance is included in the price.

But bro, don't do it. I bought a 2006 325xi and I am very sorry about. it. The car has a delay in acceleration of about 3 seconds whenever you put the accelerator down. There is something wrong with the design of the motor controller. You have lost all feel of the road and I believe the car is actually dangerous with that condition. The dealer can't do anything about it.

I hope you read this before you make your decision.

regards,

Very risky. If it has less than 50k miles and is less than 4 years old, then BMW pays for maintenanve but beyond that its up to you and it will be very expensive. I would not suggest DIY on BMW as they have very complicated electronics and most can not be serviced without a computer. I personally would advise to avoid any used BMW, CPO or otherwise.

If the vehicle is still covered under the original 4-year 50K mile manufacturer warranty, then you get maintenance virtually free at any BMW dealership, to include used vehicles.

Otherwise, you need to make a judgment call based on what the service calls for, how capable you are to do the work, and what alternative European vehicle service centers are in your area.

You are in the midst of buying a car, not in the mist of buying a car. Mist is a fog like substance. I guess that's what makes this world great, anyone can aspire to owning a BMW.

depending on the year, you will probably want to let the professionals field the big repairs...this way if something get's broken, it isn't all on you...
