To be a little harsh, personal attacks tend to follow stupid questions that don't deserve an answer. They also tend to follow questions based on a sweeping generalization of an entire group of people (i.e. liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans).
For example:
"Why are conservatives racist and greedy?"
For another example, the last question you asked on Y! Answers.

if i was to meet some of the people on here in a bar, i reckon a few manners would need sorting out with a few punches in the mouth.
but over time i take from this what it is a medium which to pass the time, take EVERYTHING you read on here with a pinch of salt, even this
i could be a 5 stone weakling who's never throw a punch in anger in my life.
let them insult you be the bigger person let the little freaks hide behind their comps.
stay strong, peace !

I don't use personal attacks. I am just sick and tired of people badmouthing this country and they usually do it out of ignorance, not really studying the whole picture before coming to conclusions and forming misguided opinions..

Because people in general are stupid and the annonymity of the web gives them balls they don't ordinarily possess (or increase the size of those whom do have balls).
Incidentally, for those too stupid to realise it, that was not an attack on the "fairer sex"... I've met women with bigger brass balls than most guy I know...

because people don't have opinions, and if they do, they don't have reasons to back up their opinions.
