A friend of mine is four months pregnant and has been having severe abdominal pain. She went to the doctor, and they ran an ultrasound and a few tests. The baby is fine, and she is not miscarrying. So, what could this be?

Well, as the baby grows everything stretches, muscles rip etc. At around four months this begins to happen, I know it hurt me...felt like sharp pains. If the doctor says the baby is fine then that could be it. It'll go away by about 6 or 7 months when everything is ripped and the damage to the abdominal wall is done. Results, flabby tummy.

If its a sharp pain ache its her tendons stretching, this is the time of pregnancy when her round tendons start to hurt. Its normal. She can also be having braxton hicks at this point, a lot of women have them clear through pregnancy.

Nothing to worry about.

It could be her ligaments are stretching. When I was pregnant I would have severe cramps, so bad it would knock me to my feet sometimes. All of her insides are stretching to make room for her baby, tell her to keep checking on it if it doesn't get any better.
