use eye contact. it makes the presentation better.

Practice what you are going to say until you know it off by heart, but don't take any risks, write yourself cue cards with bullet points on to give yourself prompts in case your mind goes blank. If it does then just pause for a second, look at your cue cards to get your bearings again and off you go.

Also eye contact is a must, but make sure you don't look at people for too long, or the same few people over again. When I have to do presentations I find it easier to look around towards the back of the room occasionally, just over the tops of the audience's heads, I find it less scary than giving eye contact sometimes.

First of all you have to be clear about how long is your presentation going to be 5 minutes or 45 mintues... based on the time factor you decide what are the points you want to cover.. jot down the points....
If the presentation is for 5-10 mintues then try to memorise the important point and practise it in front of the mirror...the more you practise the more your confidence will develop .. also try it in front of your trusted friend who can give you objective feedback about it and help you to improve on any areas that need or alternatively positive feedback on any good point...
But if the presentation is for longer than 20-25 mintues then you use power point presentation or slides for projector so the attention of the audience will be diverted from you to the material in front of them... and then you will not be so self concious anymore as you will need to just elaborate on the presentation...
you can try putting in some charts or highliting some point or using graphs or pie chart etc....

Know your stuff; when you are delivering your oral presentation know it well enough so that you do not have to continually refer to whatever you have written. Also, to help combat the nervousness start out by looking at your audience and telling a joke or funny introduction. Doing this will relax everyone in the room. Be sure to smile and look at them.

You can do a couple things to combat your fear. First, if you're doing this for a class you're in answer/ask some questions during class before the presentation day- this will help you get used to speaking up with this group of people. Second, you can ask a couple of your friends/family to sit and you practice your presentation in front of them. The best way to get over any fear is to dive right into it....it'll be over before you know it!

It would be easier if we knew the topic...

Make sure the audience understands why what you are saying is important. There's nothing as bad as a boring and pointless speech.

Make it interesting and have a point by showing everyone why it is important. If you get behind what you're saying, everyone else will know it and will respond better.

There is no set way to give a great speech, just be comfortable and convey your point to everyone.

I get nervous about public speaking, but I find what helps me is to take deep breaths and try to relax before going on. Also, if I have time, I practice what I will say by myself in my room while imagine that I am actually doing the presentation. That way I feel somewhat prepared on the actual day.

Practice in front of people you know and trust. Ask for honest feedback. Learn the information and rehearse until you know it forwards and backwards. If you give a lot of presentations, join Toastmasters, they help people learn to speak. Google them and then go check out one of their meetings. They are all about public speaking.
