I am assuming you are referring to the two major parties that have a virtual monopoly over our political landscape. The obvious answer to this has to be that Republicans are the party with the most racists. Of course it could be argued that this impression merely comes from stereotyping, and is not rooted in fact. So let me adduce some evidence to demonstrate that Republican Party is the party most probable of having a greater number of racists than the Democrats.

In the past two Presidential elections the country was divided in to blue and red states – blue being the color that denoted Democrats, Red, being the color that represented Republicans. One thing that was noticeable was that most of the red states (i.e. pro-republican states) resided in the middle and southern regions of the US. These states also happen to be the ones, based on numerous demographic studies, where the least number of minorities reside. Conversely, the blue states are places where there is great ethnic diversity. Hence, it is logical to conclude, just from the overwhelming demographic data, that red states, or rather states that are predominately Republican, would hold racist views against minorities, because they are the ones that are the most racially homogenous, while the blue states uphold racial plurality and it is also the blue states that are the entry point for many immigrants, aside from Latin Americans.

Furthermore, we can make the assumption that the blue states are more accepting of racial diversity, because the blue states also happen to be the states that have the highest standards of education. Generally, the liberal acceptance of differences among people, and high levels of education, goes hand in hand.

Finally, if the Republican Party was really receptive to racial diversity, we should see more people of ethnicity among their ranks, and yet we see the exact opposite. More people of color hold political positions in the Democratic Party, than the Republicans. Now this doesn’t mean that the Democrats have been all that responsive to minority opinion, especially lately, but at least their political structure is open to the inclusion of people of differing backgrounds.

Here is what I have been reading on this board. Someone seems to think that a Black person would never win in the South. The south, these days, is primarily voting Republican. If we put two and two together it could add up to the Republican Party is the more racist. My own experience is that there are racists in both major parties and it is probably even. It is hard to tell because much of that is local and only people of that area hear of it.

All due respect, honestly, what's the point? If people could quantify racism and say Democrats or Republicans have more racists, should that influence your support for one specific candidate? Just to play devil's advocate, if we say there are more racists in the Republican party and you have an honest Republican candidate and dishonest Democratic candidate, who should you vote for?

See the problem is we still define our leaders by race. Look at Alex's answer. Instead of taking about diversity of ideas, people talk about diversity of race and gender. Until we can get past that mentality, then we are all still racists.

All you have to do is look at the field of candiates that each party has put forward to represent them. One has 8 middle aged, fairly well to do caucasian males and the other has an African American, a Latino, a Woman and 4 middle aged, well to do caucasian males. Politics aside, based on that information alone, what side seems to be a better representation of America?

Racists are irrational thinking people, not subject to any party. I don't feel any party steers towards racism and regardless of the party they are the black sheep of that party.. Neither party wants to take credit for them, just like no one wants to take credit for bad breath.

The GOP by far and when you count their hatred for illegal immigrants, it is no contest!

There are a lot more minorities as DEMs in Congress than GOPs.
