I live with my boyfriend and two other people... I am primarily the one working right now *two just started their jobs, and my bf is going to school* so I have been working about 45-55 hours a week in order to make sure that we can pay our rent. Every night, they are always loud when I am trying to go to sleep. I have asked them to be quiet, and they normally are for 5-10 minutes, and then they are loud again. I hate telling them every night that they have to be quiet, but I am only getting about 3 - 4 1/2 hours of sleep every night! I have an hour drive one way to work, and i'm afraid im gonna be so tired im going to fall asleep driving to work. How do I make them be quiet so I can sleep??????

Time for a reaity check for your roomates. If you are paying the rent I'd say you call the shots on bedtime and partying.

Quite frankly, I'd be looking to move if it were me.

If that isn't an option, have a house meeting and lay it out, you are paying the bills and therefore in charge of some ground rules. Set a curfue on noise, and if they don't observe it stop finanically contributing to thier lives. Sounds like you've reached the jumping off place for becoming an adult...

i had the same problem. when i was pregnant i had to get up at 5 and be at work by 7 with a 2 hour commute.
for some reason my a**hole room-mates couldnt understand i needed to sleep- not to mention i was pregnant and NEEDED to rest.
they partied all night and all day and went to work early too...and when i came home they would be all be crashed on the floor and couch, with 20 friends and the house wrecked.
there comes a time when you need to stop being so nice about it.
call a house meeting and tell them how much you need sleep, maybe tell them if they want to party, please do it before 10pm, and after that please keep it down or leave and save it for the weekend.

since right now you are the only one with a job, you are calling the shots. tell them you are going to find new room mates.

it is going to be hard.
living with multiple people is very difficult or even impossible.
we lasted a year and i can't stand to even look at any of them anymore, and one of them is my brother in law!!

:UGH!!:
i understand your frustration.
just hope your house meeting will work out.

good luck

There are four of us guys in the apartment. Before we even signed the lease, I made a list of rules or expectations. I'm 21 and the ages go down, making me the elder. I hate feeling like the mom in the apartment. But any who one of the rules to accommodate our surrounding neighbors and also our roommates is that there is no sound (loud music, loud talking....) past 9pm till 9am. I came up with a consequence if any of the rules were broken. Now it hasn't work GREAT but it has been tolerable as of 4months. I was just well prepared before the lease.

Well, they are not the only ones out there you can rent too....So tell them they either completely respect your evening wishes or tell them the consequences.....move out and that is it.....These aren't people a hard working consciencious person needs in their life....There are lots more out there dear that will be glad to share rent and respect the rules of the house. Since you are the main breadwinner....you hold the key.......call the police if it happens again after you tell them the New House Rules.....as you will need proof. Good Luck....and you have your head on straight....keep it up.

Play rock or usa music merely as loud at 7 contained in the morning. factor the audio gadget on the shared wall. Presto! A flavor of his very own medication. My ex did that for the period of college, had the comparable right concern - loud rap music til 2 contained in the morning, a minimum of. He might %. the loudest, angriest hardcore or steel band and crank up the audio gadget large and early. His associates ultimately have been given the hint.

Why are you the only one busting your *** to make sure rent is paid??? Try getting some ear plugs, but you need to tell them durring the day sometime that you are working extra to help out and make sure rent is paid, that you arent meaning to tell them what to do, but you are tired and need some sleep especially until they get paid and pull their weight. I mean you just need to tell them its disrespectful to be loud after 10 beings you are working so hard. Tell your boyfriend and have him talk to them.

Threaten to move out and move closer to work. It seems like you're the only one paying the rent anyways so maybe they will get serious when they realize you're going to leave. If they don't then actually move. There's no reason to have such a long commute.

just keep reminding them theyll get eventually
they probably dont realize theyve gotten loud again
also turn on a fan or something to drown out their voices
thats how i sleep the hum from the fan overtakes the sound from the tv's and other noise outside my room
i have one of the round metal fans that sit on the floor

Sit down with them and tell them all of this..tell them that if they dont want you to keep paying rent then they can be as loud as they want. If they seriously dont start respecting you then maybe you should think about new roommates.

Get those shock collars they use on dogs. If they wake you up, ZAP!. hehe just kiddin. I would just stress to them again that you need for them to be quiet. If they keep it up, maybe give them a taste of their own medicine while they are asleep. Best of luck to ya!
