I hope that the great awakening of the people will happen while we still have time to win. There is still a small window of opportunity for the people to defeat the so called elite, but that window won't stay open for very much longer.
Thank you for that awesome link, Chrissy2, I cried tears of joy when all those cows came back in large numbers to defeat those lions. What a great metaphor that is. *sm*

The breaking point for which class??? The upper class, the middle class or the lower class?? I think the breaking point for the lower class will never arrive because they have nothing to worry about just as the upper class. As far as the middle class, they were broken years ago.
Yes, these times are 10 x worse than the 70's....Carter was only President for 4 years and look at what he had to clean up?? You complain about 14% mortgage rates and 18% finance rates on credit cards, long lines at the gas stations, the hostage crisis, etc....and Carter was just an evil man, right? So in comes Ronnie Reagan at the beginning of the 80's and he sells arms to Iraq and becomes buddies with Saddam Hussein (why didn't Reagan send our troops over there and restore the Shah of Iran to power and knock out the Allatoyah Kohmenie??) degregulation of phone companies, deregulation of air traffic regulations, appointment of a Drug Czar (by the way, have we won this war yet or is it just my imagination that drugs are worse now than ever)not to mention an excursion by our military to various conflicts, and another billion dollar military budget that included a "Star Wars" missile defense system that never worked. Let's not forget also that it was Reagan and his man Rumsfield that came up with the base Closure act so that they could give their preferential treatment to their buddies to develop new military equipment that would not require "troops". Get real, the 70's were the last decent decade that we had EVEN with the political turmoil of the Nixon Administration.

We won't because we'd rather live in our comfort zone thinking that the world is perfect in the US. We totally refuse to stand up to our gov't and demand action. We are more concerned with what Paris Hilton is doing and we have perfected the practice of avoidance. We refuse to do anything about what we all recognize as corruption and just expect that the gov't knows best and will take care of us. We aren't taking care of ourselves by not standing up and making a difference. It's gut-wrenching frightening to really take a hard look at where our economy is right now. The value of our dollar and our quality of life is steadily getting worse and worse. We can now see that what we are doing right now is NOT working and its not getting better. What is the plan for getting better? We as a Nation are economically ILL. And we have no plan for its health care. We are so easily refocused by politicians and what THEY tell us are the issues! ITS NOT WORKING!
I suggest that we all email our senators once a day and demand to know what they are going to do to fix our economy and let them know that we are very well aware that the current plan is just not working.
By the way '70s or now doesn't really matter which was worse. We are RIGHT NOW in bad shape. If we can all agree from there and move forward to demand action THEN we will have done something right. Political affiliations be dammed, we need a solution!

I was around in the 70s and there's a lot of similarities to today. What caused the high inflation in that decade was OIL, and our dependence on it. Middle Eastern oil. Nixon started selling weapons to Iran for it. From 1973 to 1979 oil went from $6 barrel to $39. Think about it! Then the Japanese started dumping fuel efficient cars in our market. All the signs are there. Republicans only know MONEY, at least Democrats want to spread that aroung more fairly. Can you imagine if the price of oil increases six-fold?

specific their is a snapping element. Scientists estimate via making use of modern agricultural production as a base. Many have reached that point! By the way, I was there in the 70's, and it is much worse now. Tell me what jobs are gone now? We have been sold out to china and others. Oh yes, what were you paying for gas 7 years ago? Has it almost,or, doubled?

The powers that be want to keep us tired and overworked. But they won't push us to collectively reach a breaking point. If such were to happen, we might actually open our eyes and recognize the truth rather than buying into the lies that we're constantly fed.
(And, yes, it's both parties. They're in bed together when no one's looking.)

It's happening now...People are starting to wake up and see how f**ked things are becoming....The question is where to start? My view is that government needs to be drastically changed almost from the ground up...but I know that is too optimistic and will never happening..

Well many of us have reached that point a long time ago. As long as the American people put up with the with the Federal Government and our so called "representatives" we are going to get what we deserve from it. More taxes more and more levels of burearcracy and more and more burdens placed upon its citizens to feed the monster. Its time we demand smaller government make them downsize and tighten their belts. I know im sick of tightening mine to feed their bloated pork bellies. -----Its time we kill this putrid stinking beast!
