I don't think it's funny because I take the constant poisoning of the American political climate by the far right serious. Too many people buy it, that makes it sad and disturbing.
Sure we know how things really are but we're not the majority and even people who consider themselves liberal do, say and accept certain lies the regressive right fed them through clever and constant propaganda. I'll never underestimate that nor think it's funny. Necocons and hardline conservatives aren't the only serious political problem in the US. Liberals trapped in right wing logic might even be a far bigger problem. That's a complicated issue but let me give an example, most people can see An Coulter is extreme but most people also accept the lie that someone like Michael Moore is"the same" on the left while if you look at that objectively it's utter nonsense. Michale Moore is left yes but not even close to far left. An Coulter is right of the far right. That's one example how the right tries and succeeds in pushing the center of politics to the right where any left voice is immediately extreme or far left but anyone left of Coulter can point to her and by comparison seem reasonable.
Same is true in the issue you talk about. Fox is a lock, stock and barrel servant of the Republican party, devoted first and foremost to electing Republicans and defeating Democrats; it’s even run by a man, Roger Ailes, who helped elect Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush senior to the presidency. And yet, because it minimally adheres to certain superficial conventions, it can masquerade as a “news” outfit and enjoy all the rights that accrue to that.
The Liberal Media myth is a propaganda tool employed by conservative radio hosts, columnists and pundits as a convenient excuse why after 20 years their ideology has failed to convince the public at large, and as a memetic inocculation of the public against the evidence that the media bias is in fact a conservative one.
Not only does the liberal media claim have no basis in fact, it also does not make sense considering the issues of media ownership and influence of advertisers. Most media outlets are owned by a handful of conservative corporations and individuals, and funded by usually economically conservative advertisers who have no need for an educated, alert, independent and critical citizenry. What they need is a dumb, bored, cynical and apathetic public that has abandoned all critical faculties and is easily distracted by celebrity gossip and mindless sports games. A public that will believe anything it is told, or nothing at all, which amounts to the same end result. This pro-corporate conservative bias of the media is well-documented and shows itself in consistent under-reporting or ignoring of any information that would lead people to question the fundamental status quo.

I've never said this before and am mildly amused to say it but "Cat Sneeze is right". These people do hear the same thing constantly day after day on Rush and Hannity. Ooh "The liberal media", "The Liberal media", The liberal media." No seriously, how simple minded are you people to not realize that all of your news organizations are owned and are in turn manipulated by a handful of corporations.
We do not have a free press any longer and that means that our last line of defense from these crooked politicians on both sides of the isle has been obliterated. These men libs, cons, dems, and republicans as well as the news organizations are bought and paid for and putting on a little show for you pea brains and watching how we fight and squabble while they by and large do what ever the hell they want.
They are running the dollar into the ground, it's on purpose. These people are not stupid, so why would both dem and rep have gone ahead with the policies that are crippling the United States currency?
I am willing to bet any of you that at some time within the next presidency, no matter which side is in office they will have a solution in the form of The Amero. If this is the case then both sides are in on it and we are just the saps that have been fighting and squabbling amongst ourselves over whose lie was true, while these bastards have sold us all out and stolen the very democracy and independence all of us should agree that we want.
"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” Mark Twain

Yes, I have often thought as much myself. I don't trust any of the mainstream media, because despite what conservatives are told and believe, there is no such thing as a liberal biased media in the mainstream market. This is because all the mainstream media is owned and controlled and monopolized by right wing elite corporate interests. So basically all the mainstream media is blatantly skewed to the right. Although Fox and Clear Channel are admittedly the worst of the worst.
And the answer that Justgoodfolks posted is totally correct. He is basically saying the same thing that I am saying, except he is saying it much better. Kudos to him! *sm*

I find it very hard to believe that there is only one news source that we can trust. That is a typical abusive relationship. "Everyone else just wants to hurt you, I'm the only one who really cares about you." I just think it would be very odd that every single news source in the whole wide world is in cahoots to bring down Bush and that only one company is able to stay free of that agenda. It should seem obvious to everyone but for some reason hardcore conservatives eat it up.

They complain about it because they hear Rush and Hannity talking about it every hour, every minute....So the cons...not being able to think on their own....Think..."yeah..all the media is controlled by Libs"...Whatever....That's such bullsh*t...,but they have to blame somebody for something other than anyone connected to cons/reps...even if they have to fabricate who controls the news....what a joke....grow up cons/reps....you all are keeping Americans divided

Not I, the same thing happened in 1949 when they created the Fairness Doctrine.
I do find it funny that they are so misinformed that they think their own media consists of only one little station, though.

I watch ABC New every night. They cover the Democrats at least 3 times more often than Republicans. Give us a break and grow up. There is ONE Conservative network. My local paper LOVES Keith Obermann. I WONDER WHY??? Another RICH guy who is all for socialism. It's such a bunch of crap. All you liberals do is whine, but just about everything goes your way. The government is already taking half of my income and giving it to someone else. How much more do you think you can take?
All the thumbs down prove that the Liberals on this site have no idea what's happening in this country! NONE. Wait until you own a business and start making a little money. The government nails you! I cannot wait until you live it and get angry because the rhetoric that's spread through the media ignores the truth. All those people at the Networks are RICH, and have no idea what it's like. They live in a dream world.

Agreed they go overboard with it. They might have some truth to work off of but they blow it out of proportion.
