Every Thanksgiving, I make a list of what I'm thankful for and of course baseball is always on the list!

There's so many things about baseball to be thankful for...the feeling you get when you're at a game rooting for your team, the happiness you feel when your team wins a game, all the players who have played the game right and made baseball what it is today...& so much more.

So, baseball fans, why are YOU thankful for baseball?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dork Quite honestly, I'm sick of you. Family is very important and I plan to spend my Thanksgiving with them. If you hate baseball, then find another section to clutter up, but I don't appriciate you answering my questions rudely.

That for six to eight months, baseball is there for me, for all of us, just about every day.

For the smell of the fresh-mown grass.

For the puff of dirt when a hot grounder skips through the infield.

For the thwock! as a fastball pounds into the catcher's mitt and the ump raises his right hand.

For the cheers the hometown crowd gives the starter when he heads for the showers in the seventh, his night done, his effort appreciated.

For the ballfolks who corral that foul grounder and hand it to a youngster in the seats.

For the batter who finds his pitch, the CRACK! of the bat, the ball that soars high and deep into the skies, going, going... for the outfielder who tracks it, eyes locked, fearlessly full speed onto the warning track, timing it... for the crowd that as one stands, roars, ROARS as the arc rises and falls and comes back down down down... and for what happens in that moment.

And that even the basest and most malign things on earth cannot take that away.

I am thankful that Jacobs Field is such a better place than old cavernous Cleveland Municipal Stadium.

I am thankful that Grady Sizemore wears an Indians uniform.

I am thankful for the great memories that the Indians have given me and yea, I keep coming back in spite of the heartbreaks.

I am thankful to be a partial season ticketholder who was able to already get my 2008 Cleveland Indians Opening Day tickets through a presale this week.

I am thankful to enjoy the environment at the Jake: the food, the players...etc.

I am thankful to beat the Yankees in the 2007 ALDS and being able to go to Games 1 and 2. What great memories those are.

I am thankful and feel proud to be a fan of a franchise that took the World Series champs to Game 7 of the ALCS when no one else could even win a single game.

I am thankful that the Cleveland Indians are no longer the laughingstock of Major League Baseball:

I am thankful that Grady Sizemore won a Gold Glove, the first for an Indian since Roberto Alomar and Omar Vizquel.

I am thankful that CC Sabathia won the Cy Young Award, the first Indian since Gaylord Perry to do so.

I am thankful that Mark Shapiro was named Executive of the Year.

I am thankful that Eric Wedge was named AL Manager of the Year.

I am thankful that Larry Dolan won a humanitarian award.

I am most thankful that the Indians did not leave the city of Cleveland and that the voters passed the levy that eventually built Jacobs Field and kept them in Cleveland where I could see them. It is easy to take that for granted at times.

I am thankful for Baseball because it is the best sport in the World. It was home-grown right here in the great US of A! I thankful for baseball because it brings people together. It is part of America's History. Most of all I thankful for Baseball because of all the Legends and Heros that have played long ago, that made the game what it is today.

I am thankful for baseball because the sport gives me happiness during the summer, it allows me to actually LOVE a sport, when I am not that much of a sports person, but ever since I started watching baseball, thats all I want to watch!! I love watching the players showing off their skills, and I just truly think that baseball is great, and I am so thankful for it.

As you stated there are alot of things to be thankful about baseball. They are some that make you not thankful either(Like the overboard salaries & insulting ticket prices but that's another subject) but to me the most thankful thing is the memories that stay with you after watching some of these games. Till this day i still remember that Bucky Dent HR as if it was yesterday. Happy Thanksgiving to you & despite the rants of a certain idiot your question is interesting.

Chip definitely summed it up. But I'm also thankful for the new stadium the Twins are finally getting, I'm thankful for the days and nights when I have gone to the ballpark and watched Santana pitch and strikeout 17 batters and other days when our other young pitchers show that they have potential to be great. I'm thankful that my team has won two world series titles while I was alive, granted the last one was 16 years ago and counting. But I'm thankful that every time I'm at a game or watching a game, that for those 2.5 - 3.5 hours of the game, that nothing else matters.

Well, Chip summed it up very nicely! I agree with what he said plus, I must add that I am still thankful for the 2004 Championship series that the Red Sox had. That was the absolute best thing that happened in my life (among things that I have no control over of course). I cherish the feeling of watching the Sox celebrate at Yankee stadium and then again in St. Louis. It was amazing and I was so happy! I wish Answers existed then so we Red Sox fans could have shared it! Yes, I am crazy so no one has to say that about me in their answer! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm thankful that I live in a country where I'm free to watch a game comfortably in my Living room or in a bar with friends with no fear of reprocussion.

I'm thankful that MLB is trying to clean up the cheaters who use illegal performance-enhancing drugs from the game.

I'm thankful that I can go to my local sports field on a weeknight during the spring/summer and enjoy a game by kids who truly enjoy the game.

I'm thankful that I can go to Yahoo Answers and express my opinions about my favorite game in the world.

I'm thankful that my city has a team so that I don't have to travel far to watch them play. I'm thankful that I have the option of traveling near and far to visit other ballparks and appreciate what their fans are able to. I'm thankful for baseball, as it kept me very busy for 12 years and likely kept me out of trouble. I'm thankful that baseball is a part of life, because it's been a HUGE part of mine for so many years. I'm thankful for baseball as a whole, because it constantly gives my husband and I a LOT to yack about... and even debate over.

I still proudly wear my "Baseball is Life" sweatshirt.
