I had my first ultrasound done the other day and I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and my doctor told me they found what is called EIF (echogenic Intracardiac Focus) which is a small spot on the babies heart and the doctor said that most of the time it is nothing and there are rare cases it can be a sign of chromasome issue and can be downsyndrome, has anyone had this before and ended up being nothing?

I have a darling grandson who is now 7 months old. My daughter and son-in-law also went through this where they saw a small spot on the baby's heart at a routine ultrasound. It scared us all and we were very worried about the ramifications. They were told about this by another doctor when their regular OB was off on maternity leave. When their regular doctor returned, she was amazing at assuring everyone that EIF is a common occurrence. She said the increased usage of ultrsounds has been showing numerous things that at first seem to be cause of concern, but in most cases don't cause any problems. The nurse at the doctor's office even went so far as to tell my daughter that she really wished they didn't have to tell parents-to-be about the EIF as it rarely means anything and it sends parents into quite a state of turmoil. There are other signs indicating possible chromosome issues and because the baby did not exhibit any of these, our daughter's doctor said they would monitor it to be sure, but she was confident there was little risk of a problem. The spot disappeared by delivery. Our grandson was born perfectly healthy and still is.

I am sorry I have never experienced this but I have heard many times that it can correct itself, and it may just be a bad angle... I wish you the best of luck.
