The fact that the John Stewart question was deleted shows right there that people take him seriously, and for those who say it's just entertainment read some of the comments from one of my last questions.
"Entertainment, or indoctrination, I don't really care it's funny, and I happen to agree with most of what he says. Jon Steward, and Stephen Colbert are carrying on a tradition of political satire in the footsteps of Will Rogers, Woody, and Arlo Guthrie, the Smothers brothers, and Pat Paulsen to name a few."
"John Stewart is an entertainer. That said, he is a very smart man and speaks the truth"
How people think insults of the president means truth about the war seriously people are smarter than that aren't they?
Someone who likes John Stewarts but not for the petty insults or unfactual information. Whether people like it or not Rush, Glenn Beck, Bill O'reilly are press and have press credentials, John Stewart is a comedian in case some of you forgot.

I understand some of what he is saying but I think it's the way he says it that makes me already think he doesn't know what he is talking about. I tune him out because of petty insults and the ignorant circus seals that are trained to clap when he says them. It's journalistic integrity it's obvious he is one sided but he can't have it both ways and claim to be a spoof show and then have people take him seriously too.

I would listen to him over Colbert, because Colbert is the French sterotype to a tee. He is very ignorant and goes beyond joke telling you can tell he gets personal because that is the type of person he is, vindictive.

Liberals, and the "Sheeple" in general, tend to follow whatever the "Crowd" is doing, thinking, or saying.
The >FACT< that most in the "Entertainment" industry are devoutly Liberal...is largely ignored, or even downplayed by they themselves, the press, and most others as being "Not that important!" As if it has/had no bearing on what they say or do in the "Spotlight" that they are given before the public at large, on a daily basis.
To think that this >Constant< barrage is "Of no bearing, or influence!" to the mind-numbed masses...is deceitful at worst, and dishonest at best.
Anyone who has any knowledge of propaganda, will tell you that if you repeat the same things often enough, long enough, and by enough people....true or not...that you will get people to start to believe in whatever you are saying. Look at all of the Internet hoaxes that are constantly sent from inbox to inbox over the internet....Unchecked....even though there are several sites that will allow you to do a little research into their validity....For Free!
I don't mind that there are opposing views to mine...In fact I welcome them.
I do mind that there are those who constantly preach "Diversity" and "Tolerance", yet fight "Tooth & Nail" to Oppress any opposing views, and vilify those who voice/show them, at every opportunity.
Liberals have tried, numerous times, to put their own "Voice" out on the airwaves, and/or Talk shows...
and >Each< has failed...not due to the vast amounts of money, advertising, feigning reviews that were/are given to them.....but due to the lack of support that their "Audience" has shown toward them, their ideas, or their causes.
In other words, no one wants to put their money where their (Supposed) mouth(s) are.
I don't know about you, but this speaks >VOLUMES< to me.

Rush, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and those on the other side of the aisle like them (such as Michael Moore) are what is wrong with American politics today. To call them the press is very a loose interpretation of what they do.
These radio show hosts (both Conservative and Liberal) are only on the air to further their sides' political goals. They are not there to report on the truth. They are mouth pieces for the extremists in their parties. If Rush was a true journalist he wouldn't just shout over anyone with a desenting viewpoint. He would give them time to air out their thoughts. But that is not what his show is for. Their shows are to belittle the thoughts of the other side and villify their leaders.
John Stewart and Stephen Colbert are comedians, you do have that right. They are political satires and are looking at the news for humor, not to report the truth.
You want the truth, listen to Fox News AND CNN (or get the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal). Hear both of the sides of the arguement (as both are biased). Then make your decision based off what you think is right, not what some mouthpiece tells you is right.

If you start out believing a fallacy in logic, you can achieve all sorts of philosophical gymnastics. I have long thought, and been able to prove, the theory : All liberal thought, policy, beliefs, and philosophy is rooted in specific identifiable fallacies of logic or thought. All liberal rhetoric is simply justification for the logical fallacies. It works like this. -
1) Assume a lie.
2) Justify the lie.
3) Demean anyone who points out the outcome will not work.
Example
The classic liberal mantra, "tax the rich to help the poor."
1) The CEO of Evil rich corporations do not pay the taxes of the corporation. The corporation passes the taxes on to shareholders who will earn less on investments and be unable to save money for retirement. The cost of taxes is also passed on to employees who have to work harder for less and who get downsized and outsourced. The third way they pass taxes along (of course) is to make the customer pay more for less. The assumption was tax the rich to help the poor, the outcome is more poverty due to a slower economy.
2) Justify the lie: There are so many poor people and they need so much help. It's not moral for corporations and CEO's to make so much money.
3) Demean anyone who points out the outcome will not work: When Republicans say "We have had a war on poverty and spent untold billions on fighting poverty and all we have is more poverty" the reply is a heated. "You are greedy and you don't care about poor people or you would want to give them money. You are evil because you want children to starve ... "
Of course, all of the above retorts are also rooted in fallacies of logic and thought. And so it goes.

Back when I watched a lot of TV, I enjoyed Dennis Miller. And sadly, I believe "Yes" people are really THAT stupid. Most want to get up, go to work, come home and turn on the TV and forget about the world. The TV lulls and pacifies them into a false paradigm. They don't REALLY want to think. They want it handed to them and it has to fit their little paradigm.

Rush has no press credential, he is a political commentator if you have never known. Perhaps Stewart is the one forgetting he is only a comedian. Glen Beck has no press credentials either. You seem to have your own problem with what is real and what is not.
