Next time you hear a loud, obnoxious motorcycle, imagine how it would be if every single car on the road sounded like that but even louder. That is why we have mufflers.

Without mufflers they'd be obnoxiously loud, like some of the thump, thump, thump, stereos out there. Drive one without a muffler sometime and you'll be glad your car has mufflers.

In order to understand the muffler work first you have to understand how does smoke come out from engine...well once mixture of petrol and air got inside the cylinder and piston start compress them into a smaller point they are extremely ready to blow and same time spark plug, spark in return a blast happen inside the engine and same time exhaust valve release its seat so smoke can get out from the engine but if there is no muffler and silencer install to engine we can hear that blast and can see fire and smoke coming out from engine so what does muffler do is its helps to reduce that sound while separating them into various ways to get out....

What the muffler does is it controls the sound that comes out of the exhaust pipe. That is why some people are really loud as they go screaming past you, and then some people you can barely hear over your radio.

To reduce the amount of noise that you have to listen to while you are driving. Some people like to talk to each other while they drive and don't want to hear the engine making a roar.
