Mom used to make a steamed pudding with hard sauce and a lemon sauce. It was something I liked to eat at the holidays. But she's can't cook anymore and I don't know where the recipe is.
She also made green Jello with shredded carrots, pineapple and cottage cheese in it. She frosted it with a mixture of sour cream and mayonnaise. Sometimes a sprinkling of nuts.
I do miss mom's cooking for the holidays. Darn! Why did you have to bring it up? Now I'm all melancholy.

I'd rather have something so good that it would make me want to punch the mule. And banana pudding would go a long ways towards that, but even better would be home made from scratch deep dish extra wide pan......pumpkin pie.

I loved mom's chicken and dumplings when we'd all get together. I also used to make a wonderful carrot cake from scratch (before I was allergic to carrots) from mom's recipe-she loved that. Banana pudding is one of my favorite desserts-yum, I'm making a homemade pumpkin pie in a bit myself.

I make oyster dressing. My family has made that since before I was born. I was shocked when I found out my husband doesn't like it. He likes almost everything!
I do make a mean pumpkin pie. I make it from fresh pumpkin like my grandma made and I don't know anyone else who bothers with cooking their own pumpkin. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Well, I'm fixing one we haven't had in years. It's wild rice casserole with homemade sage venison sausage. It's just like your daughter's banana pudding, so good you'll want to slap your momma . . . LOL, I'll need to remember that line. Although, I hope none of my kids take it literally though!

I miss the creamed onions. My oldest son seems to be the only one who likes these. I used to make some just for him. My father was from Massachusetts and my grandparents always prepared the best New England type meals.

I have been sharing Thanksgiving with three friends now for three or four years. I always offer to make a pie, either pecan, apple/mince, or buttermilk, but no one wants them. I don't want to make one just for myself. I took a home made pecan pie to work last Christmas and not one person took any. I brought it home and put it in the freezer. I eventually ate it.
