WHY would someone believe that people were alive at the same time as dinosaurs ??????

Simply because they want to believe a myth.

Because they believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, which states that all animals were made in the same day, and then man was made the next day (all around 6,000 years ago). Biblical references to "leviathan" and similar creatures are taken as referring to dinosaurs around in the Old Testament times.
They believe that dinosaurs and man co-existed until the biblical flood, which wiped out the dinosaurs (though some also state that there might be dinosaurs from the ark still alive today in remote locations).
And, sadly, they refuse to budge on this belief, no matter how much contradictory evidence is presented.

We today are alive at the same time as dinosaurs. The crocodile and alligator are one of the last remaining dinosaurs.

because of the gruesome look of humans in the prehistoric age and the fact that caveman drew animals sometime similar to a dinosaur body structure.
