What I do is that every morning I tax a glass of water that I left from the night before with two or 3 plums and flax seeds ( overnight) that has lots of fiber and prevents Colom, breast and prostate cancer.... antioxidants and regulate your system,,,, but I guess the prenatal are taking over.. lol

It's both. When you're pregnant, your digestive system is sluggish and doesn't work as effectively. When you add the extra iron from the prenatals, it just exacerbates the problem. Increase your fluids and fiber intake, and if you need to take a stool softener.

My GP told me that after 12 weeks I didn't have to take prenatal vitamins because those first few weeks are the most important and after, I would most likely be getting all the nutrients I need from a well balanced diet. I felt uncomfortable about it, but she kept telling me that my baby and I would be alright... I also had really bad constipation during that time and it started to get better for me around weeks 14-15.. I would just continue eating things high in fibre and drink lots of fluids

Its the iron that you are taking as part of the prenatal vitamins. Check with your doctor if they can lower the iron intake or increase the fiber to help you.

I couldnt take prenatal vitamins.. I could keep them down (I had this problem with several things though), My doctor put me on a good eating habit and made me take flinestones vitamins, and i still had constipation. So for me it was just my pregnancy that cause all the changes.

Both the vitamins stop you up in the beginning months (Iron) and if you stop taking the iron you are good until about the 6th or 7th month and it starts all over again because of slower digestion and the size of the baby.

Pregnancy does, your digestive tract is changed by it, but the prenatals will stop you up worse than anything.

Its the iron in them, switch to a flinstones chewable, and use benefiber in your cereal every morning- its perfect for pregnant women. You can also take a fiber suppliment like phillips pills, not laxatives though.

Being constipated is bad for you, and baby. The pushing can break your water and start premature labor, and it also causes hemmeroids.

Been there done that one baby, its not worth it. Stop taking iron, eat benefiber, and drink like a fish, its what works.

Both. The pregnancy hormone slows down your digestive tract and the iron in the prenatal causes it as well.

It's usually the iron in the vitamins. I had the same problem. I had to drink lots of water.

you can request for a prenatal with a stool softener in it. If not, your doctor can suggest an OTC softener NOT Laxative you can take whenever you're constipated.

The vitamins that my doctor gave me have a stool softener it them. I have not been able to take them because they make me sick. So, he told me to take Flintstone children Vitamins.
