I wanted to have a water birth but my hospital doesnt allow 1st pregnancys to do it, but i did get a compromise and they said i can labor in the tub as long as i wanted. I know this might sound silly but what do i wear? A bathing sut top and bottoms or just top.. any other differant types of clothing? what do you suggest?

You can wear either. They will probably make you get out of the tub to check your dilation so it wont matter if you have bottoms on in the tub.

I had a nice jacuzzi tub in my delivery room as well in the hospital I went to.. I didn't want a water birth myself but I was invited to use the tub any time I wanted to.. It was wonderful! I didn't wear anything lmao.. But I would think just a top if you're self conscience.. everyone that checks you is going to see everything anyway, lol..
I tell you though, take full advantage of that tub.. it is VERY nice to just be able to relax and it takes a lot of the pressure off.. I plan to take advantage of the tub again for this pregnancy (36 weeks 6 days now)
Good luck! and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I say a sports bra or bikini top...whichever. I wasn't allowed to do a water birth either b/c my doctor said she didn't feel comfortable doing them. But, as soon as I got in the tub for labor I had to get out to push! lol I wouldn't wear bottoms as they will just take them off anyway...you wont be worried about it after a few seconds. Or you could just go all out and do it in your birthday suit. You might be more comfy. Good luck!

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. Your comfort is the utmost importance! If you feel better being completely nude, do so. Otherwise I would wear something that is not too binding, maybe a bra-in tank top and bikini bottoms since you will have to remove it all to do the actual pushing. It may become too tedious to remove the bottoms often so that the doc can check you though. Best of luck to you all for a healthy happy delivery!

It's not silly...I would have asked the same thing if I were doing it. I would probably just wear a bathing suit top since you're gonna have to get out of the tub to pee and to get checked by the nurses and Dr.'s.

Congratulations and good luck!!

Whatever YOU want, it is your comfort level. I wouldn't suggest wearing bottoms since they will be checking you. Women have worn nothing to t-shirts. Just remember it has to be easy to take off since it will be wet and you don't want to get cold when you are pushing the baby out, you will feel cold enough after the birth due to fluctuations of hormones.
Can I also suggest the birthing ball? It is a great option, you sit on this big ball and roll your hips around and it proactively helps to move baby into place.

i would suggest just wearing a 2 piece bathing suit--top only--as I'm sure they'll need to check dilation during the labor to know when you need to get out...also, i wouldn't worry about them not letting you give birth in the tub, doctors normally know what's best for the patient, in this case, you..especially with being pregnant..trust the doctors

good luck and congrats to you and the daddy!

I would say go with a bathing suit top. The doctors will probably need to check you for dilation progress, you are not going to want to have to deal with taking bottoms off and putting them back on!! Good Luck 80)

I've never done water birth, but I would wear a bikini top without bottoms. Just me though...
