I know I will be listed as the most bizarre woman on the face of the planet-- I'm on a mission-- my husband, sister and I are all morticians/funeral directors/undertakers (your choice), and for a gift idea I was thinking of doing a mortuary/funeral procession/hearse/etc. cross stitch for the new home we moved into....has anyone ever seen such a thing, or have any ideas? I do own that cross stitch program that can take a picture and convert it into a chart, but haven't had any luck with that-- and having a kit would work so much better....HELP!!!Brandee

Many early samplers done in the 1700's show a tree or garden with a tombstone or memorial statuary. It was common for a young girl to stitch these as a memorial for friends or family who had passed away.

Since you have a cross stitch program, you might want to go find some older more picturesque grave yards and take some pictures. One of those might convert well. You can then clean it up a bit to have fewer colours or to have a smoother look. (I do this a lot with a bead pattern program. - take a picture that is specific to a need and then convert it)

If possible the most personal would be to get a good picture of the front of the business where you work (Or your sign/logo) Use the program to create a pattern of the building/logo. This would make a nice 8x10 size cross stitch.

Hope this works out -- Artwork and crafts should be personal, so go with it.

Do you have any favorite photos that are business oriented that have been taken over the years? You are the best judge of what would "Say It All". I think you are on the right track as far as using your own chart program. There is a free tutorial website called Layden With Stitches that can walk you through some steps to create a design that will best reflect your choice in design.

You picture idea seems like it would work. There are lots of similar things that you can convert.

Your profession is so important and we all appreciate your work. However, death is not something to be celebrated. I think it would have been more appropriate to celebrate the beautiful families you have met. -Maybe a beautiful child placing a rose on his dear great grandmother's grave site.

Celebrate LIFE and all of the love that you get to witness every day in that funeral home. I don't get why a hearse would bring good energy to your home.

Yes, you are bizarre. But that's okay, that's what makes us all unique. I couldn't find a hearse oddly enough BUT there is a series called tombstone angels. This link has two of them plus one called Buriel Hill which is two (cute?) tombstones. Also have you tried 123stitch.com? They have a great message board there where you could post your question.

hi ya. have you tried doing a graph by hand. either by drawing onto graph paper or if this is not an option why not find a picture you like and get it scanned and printed out on graph paper, many photo coping places will do this if you provide the paper. I've used both methods and they do work. hope this helps

Here is a stretch limo from a uk company, they do ship overseas. If you get just the chart, you could switch out the colors to make a hearse.
