Consider me Robin Hood. I would keep $1,000 of it and donate the rest.

If my receipt showed I only withdrew $300 I would keep it all and use it to pay bills and get a better place or move to a better place. The way banks have been cheating the people who put their money in these banks, they are not going to miss a measly $300. In my opinion. And after yesterday, I have to go the bank to find out where they misplace $300 of mine.

Well, no matter how much I needed the money, I would have to go to the bank and return it. You would be caught by camera and my conscious would never rest if I didn't do the right thing.
Side note....this would be a Federal Offense! Take no chances. Do what is right!

You do have a moral obligation to do something about it.... I would hold it and go shopping spend it then save the receipts and bill the banking institution for the inconvenience of having to handle the error that they imposed on you. LOL When they insist that you return it charge them an additional amount everyday that they complain about it.

Sorry to seem the square, but I believe I will have to answer to my maker for everything I do, whether I get caught in this life or not--so I'd have to return it. I wouldn't feel right spending it. Happy Thanksgiving! :-)

If I knew for SURE I wouldn't get caught, I'd DEFINITELY keep it so I could buy nicer stuff for my friends and family for Christmas! Actually I'd probably even donate some of it to homeless animals and people for the season. Hey, bank's mistake not mine!
Man, that would ROCK! No fair.

I would return it, because the bank is sooo going to catch that error and charge you for it.
It actually happened to me once. I was taking out 20 and it gave me 300. I was young and so I spent it all. Then my bank charged me for it.

I would not keep it. I would turn it in. I would go into the bank and explain what happened. If that was not possible and they didn't believe me and it didn't negatively impact my account then I would donate the difference to a charity that I care about.

If I was sure that I wouldn't get caught, I'd keep it. It's a big evil bank that charges me outrageous fees for nothing and steals their employees 401K.
I'll give $500 to a homeless person my way to the mall to assuage my conscience.
