Did Tony Blair, John Major or Margaret Thatcher ever attend a Scotland game? No, they didn't, and nobody expected them to, because they were all English (despite Blair being born in Edinburgh). So why would anyone expect a Scottish PM to attend an England game? English PMs are not expected to support Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, so why should PMs from those countries support England?

Besides, Saturday's game was arguably the biggest game in Scotland's modern history. As a proud Scot and a football fan, why wouldn't he attend the game?

Personally, I think it completely irrelevant which nation of the UK a PM is from as long as they are the best person for the job. Whether Gordon Brown is the best person or not is open for debate, but his nationality should have nothing to do with it.

He'll be with his Darling mate, Alistair, looking for his lost treasures. He's a Raith Rovers fan so he knows a little about football.
