People, let's be realistic. An employer will rarely hire a pregnant woman, because to them, it's a liability. They would have to pay maternity leave, find someone to substitute that person in the meantime, etc. Do NOT tell them you are pregnant. It's none of their business. Once you are hired, you can tell them when you show. It's not uncommon for women to not know they are pregnant until they are 2 or 3 months along (or even further). It is not lying, it is withholding information that they have no business to ask. Same with asking your marital status, or if you have children, or your sexual orientation. It's NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.
And yes, discriminating against pregnant women is illegal. So is discriminating against blacks, women and gays. But it doesn't mean employers don't do it anyways. And they can always say "The position has been filled by someone more qualified, or eliminated" or whatever.

You don't have to tell them, and whether or not you ethically should depends on the job. I mean, if its one of those companies that hires tons of people and you can be replaced easily, that's one thing. Of course, if the position requires a lot of training and you'll be hard to replace if you go out on maternity leave, then ethically, you probably should say something. I have had three interviews since I became pregnant. The first was in a call center, and I told them I was pregnant, and they didn't care, they highered me anyway. I quit after day one in training, well, because the job sucked. I was too old to be there with all those kids.
The second interview was as a Cashier at ShopKo. Again, I told them I was pregnant, and they were fine with it. They told me about the four or five other girls tha were, and said it's not a problem. In fact, they said they would even give me shorter shifts if I needed it. It's only part time.
My third interview was to clean at a hospital, 20 hours a week. I didn't tell them I was pregnant. They called the next day to offer me the job, and I told them I was pregnant and asked if the job would be safe for my baby. I was told it was fine and not to worry about it at all.
I'll now be working 2 jobs, still only part time, but they were all totally fine with my pregnancy. If you do decide to tell them, they could surprise you.
If you don't really want to keep the job after you have the baby, but you have to have it now, then I don't see a lot of harm in keeping in quiet.
of course, the legallity of it all depends on what country you are in. if you are in the usa, you dont have to say anything, ever about being pregnant. what makes me sick is all of these people saying that you have to tell them, because its the law, and if a women they hired didn't tell them she was pregant, that it would ruin things for them. THAT is discrimination and its awful that people have that attitude. They might be looking out for their business, but, it's discrimination anyway. It makes me angry!
good luck with the job interview!

To be truthfully honest, I think it depends on the company and the job you're going for. At my job, we are a very, very small company and I do the hiring. At my particular job, no, I wouldn't hire someone who couldn't do lifting( that's a big part of the job). Also, when we do finally hire, we're looking for long term employment. Not someone who can help us out for a few months, then we're flying solo again. During which time we have to hire someone to replace you AND when you come back now we have 2 employees with only enough hours to support 1 of them.
With that being said, if it's a big company, like Walmart, Kmart. I wouldn't feel so bad about not telling them I'm pregnant. While my concept is the same, they usually have a bigger budget and are able to maintain an extra employee after you return. But then again, maybe not.Just don't get mad if you return and you aren't able to get the same amount as you were before. Good luck.

id reconcider going to the interveiw. if you are apply for the position that requires heavy lifting and you tell them you are pregnant, they probebly wont hire you knowing you wont be able to do the job that the next person could do.
Or you can go to the interview, explain to the that you just found this out, you are sorry for wasting there time (im not being rude), but if they had another position, light duty/part time, that you could do, you would be happy to fill it. no you dont have to tell them, but id be respectable to them, they are running a buisness and you would want the same respect from your potention employees.
YOU HAVE TO CONCIDER THE BABY TOO IN THIS, I UNDERSTAND SINGLE MOM, YOU NEED TO WORK, BUT ITS NOT HEALTHY TO BABY IF YOU ARE GONNA BE LIFTING HEAVY ITEMS ALL DAY LONG, YOU NEED TO THINK OF THAT TOO. IM SURE THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE YOU CAN DO. WHAT ABOUT BABYSITTING, THATS GOOD MONEY AND TAX FREE, GET 3/4 KIDS IN YOUR HOME CHARGE 400 A MONTH AND YOUR SET.

george-g is wrong its not illegal to not tell them. You do not have to reveal any personal information about you that you do not want to and it IS illegal for them to ask if you are pregnant though. You're pregnant and have the right to work if you need to, being pregnant isn't going to hinder your job so I wouldn't tell them because if you do tell them and don't get the job then you will never know if it was your qualifications that didn't get the job or you being pregnant. and there are laws on the books about maternity leaves well i guess that this all pertains if you live in the USA. hope this helps.

I will tell you what happened to me. I went for an interview, felt like it went great. I started feeling quility about not telling them that I was pregnant. So, I e-mailed and told them that I had just learned that I was expecting in March.. I never heard back from them. As a matter of fact. I have not been able to get a job at all. I have always worked and never had a problem at work etc.
So, if you want to work do not tell them.

Being not that far along (obviously, I'm assuming it's not physically obvious), I wouldn't say you need to say, just yet. I would just let it be noticed, as, if all goes well for you (and here's hopes that it does), you won't be needing any time off for a while, and by them, if you get the position, you'll have had time to establish an employer/employee relationship, and this matter will be easier to sort out.

First of all, they cannot discriminate against you for being pregnant. That's illegal. And by law,you are NOT required to inform them at any specific time. But still,if they do hire you,you shouldn't tell them just yet.you should let your skills do the talking for a few weeks, that way they'll know what a tremendous asset you are to their company. Then, when the time is right (or you start to show) you can discuss your pregnancy. Just assure them that your state will not affect the quality of your work.

Be honest, even though the law does not require you to disclose it. Your potential employer has a right to know about this major event in your life.
Workers want honesty from their bosses, right? Well, it's a two-way street.
At 12 weeks you could still put in a good 4 months or more of work in for them. Be positive and let them know you plan to do a great job. Assure them that you will take all of your responsibilities seriously.

You under no circumstances tell in an interview technique. as quickly as you shelter the activity...wait some weeks then permit the guy in cost understand which you anticipate a new child in April yet will stay dedicated on your activity, placing out purely 4-6 weeks earlier returning on your submit.
