It was announced this am that Oprah will campaign for Obama in Iowa. I lost respect for Oprah when she involved herself in this election because I feel she is supporting Obama because he is black. He has no credentials or experience to be president, so I see no other reason she would be supporting him.

while I have NEVER been an Oprah fan, I do agree that she is ONLY supporting Obama because of his skin color. She has never publicly campaigned for anyone. All the sudden this guy comes along with very little experience and she is all about him. Why? It doesn't take a Rocket scientist to figure it out. What little respect I might have had for her has been lost. I don't care about skin color, if he was who I thought would do the best job, I would vote for him, regardless of his color. But it is quite evident there are better choices out there.

Kayla is right it is not fair to use your popularity to support a candidate, so I think it is right because some of Hillary votes is coming from Bill, and without him she would loose and Obama would win it is simply common sense.

Everybody has their right to their opinion, it does not have a famous person or some guy on the street with a bell shouting vote for Obama, they all trying to get the same massage, please vote for Obama. Just because one is more famous and can get her opinion known more open to the public, we should not loose respect for her.

They are other reasons to vote for Obama ex. honesty, change form bushes and Clinton's. Plus Obama is half white so he is not completely black, so Oprah is not voting for him because of his race.

If you think that Oprah has no other reason to vote for him then it is reasonably to assume that you think everybody else is voting for him because of race which would not get him as far as he is in the election race, so with no disrespect I think you are wrong.

i don't have any additional respect for Oprah except for her as a successful entertainer and for her charitable works.

I don't lend any more credibility to her political beliefs just because she is a well-known tv personality. In our culture, we are force-fed info regarding what famous faces in the entertainment world believe or support. I couldn't care less what a tv, movie, sports or any entertainment star thinks or believes. They are famous just for being popular. So I didn't have that kind of respect to lose for Oprah because I simply see her as another entertainer. Keep the famous people in their place and don't fall under their spell. Think for yourself and don't worry what the famous entertaining faces believe or support. Unfortunately, there are millions of people who want to know what she or other famous faces believe and suppport politically. Us normal people can believe and listen to whomever we want but we can surely find better opinions than Oprah or any other famous tv face.

Look, she's an entertainer. I respect her for producing a show and products that generate great demand and interest. But she has zero credibility in serious public policy matters. Only .01% of entertainers do. "Celebrity activists" should be dealt with like they were in the movie "Team America -- World Police", the funniest movie of the past decade.

I agree with Aim, Oprah does think she's Jesus.

So to answer your question, the answer is no, because I never had much respect for her in the first place...

Well it's the fact that Obama is one of Oprah's old friends. So I believe she is supporting him because of this. I have no preference to Oprah. She had Obama on her show about a year ago that I recall. So they are buds now. I dont think she has much of a political preferance towards him.

Maybe you should look at yourself instead of Oprah because if you think only in black and white (leaving out all the gray) then you are a racist.

If you don't understand what I am talking about then you need to work on yourself and stop criticizing others because you have issues.

"I feel she is supporting Obama because he is black. He has no credentials or experience to be president, so I see no other reason she would be supporting him."

Bingo! You answered your own question.

Oprah sees the world in racial terms ("race_ist") so it is not surprising that she would support a man whose entire campaign has been generated by the media, who has little political experience, and is even more liberal than Hillary.

Oprah often abuses her influence and this is just another example. When a person is an egomaniac, he/she feels entitled to speak on any topic.

I don't know if anyone has bothered to school you on this matter..but...the United States is a free country.
AND...in this free country, people like you AND people like Oprah can support whoever you choose to support.

Tell the truth...are you equally let-down/concerned/baffled by all of the white-Americans who voted for George Bush simply because he's white?

AND...as far as Obama lacking credentials and experience...from what source have you been getting your news?

Obama is more than qualified/experienced to run this country.
Unlike Bush, he possesses the qualities of a true American president: common sense, knowledge, diplomatic character, the ability to walk and chew gum at the same time, and compassion.
