Yesterday, I asked "Why have the republicans let down the pro-life (or anti abortion to some) movement?"
I think it is a legitimate question. Why would someone accuse me of being a liberal??
I have been called a "neo con" on here many times by those to the political left of me. So, which am I??
Is name calling all that is left here on y/a politics??
I have asked my fair share of "trolling" questions, but people can't tell a legit question from a troll question here ???

Here is the question for those looking for a "source"

Because we are a culture that takes pride in self absorbed importance and no longer aware of civility and politeness.

Funny; same thing has happened to me.

I think some people feel compelled to plug others into neat little slots, in order to avoid recognizing that no one really fits so neatly into any category.

As a pro-life Democrat, by the way, I have noticed a certain "give" regarding abortion from Republicans, and I find that distressing.

Good luck.

Well, i dont go for one side nor the other and I dont feel the Republicans have let it down either, they just cant win against a woman's right to choose. And it's a dumb debate at a time when an expensive war is being fought if you really think about it. Will it really make alot of sense to talk about Pro-Life when they keep sending soldiers to their deaths?

Maybe it is because of the school systems that fail to educate our up and coming citizens in logical reasoning and how to properly debate and propose arguments supporting your opinion.
That and TV programs that are full of personal attacks used for humor.
This whole Yahoo Answers format is a joke. It is really difficult to debate people. I don't know why I keep bothering to do it. When I find a better place to really DISCUSS the issues, I am gone.

Name calling is a tactic of weakness and a technique of propaganda.

There are too many people now who stand for something with no real reasoning or no real thought. They will resort to spewing propaganda techniques or slandering others in order to look better. They draw attention away from their own deficiencies by trying to point out flaws in others.
They usually use buzz words and terminology that makes them sound more intelligent or initiated in special groups.

Unfortunately this is something that both sides use these days. You will find yourself slandered in this way if you deviate even a little from whatever camp you are talking with.

It seems that starting with the 2000 elections people have voted with their emotions rather than with there heads. They get so emotionally involved in a candidate or cause that they cannot carry on an intelligent conversation. When confronted with an opposing view, for which they have no valid response, they lash out with insults.

Most of the name calling comes from the more close minded people. They can't accept that someone could possibly have a different opinion than they do. A different opinion? Why, the person must be stupid or evil!

A sad state of affairs really........
