When is the LHC going to be fully operational and how soon can we expect results from new experiments?

Also are we planning on building a new collider of our own?

You would think we could "go in with it" with countries like Japan and South Korea who probably would be interested in a joint venture.

We are going to be left behind by the Europeans in high particle and cosmological research.

LHC plans to circulate the first beams in May 2008, and the first collision is expected in mid-2008. Results soon to follow. :-)

I think a joint venture would make sense. The more minds you've got working on a project, the better the chances of a good outcome.

Hi. "When" has been answered. What do we need to surpass this? A truly awesome machine built in space with a MUCH larger diameter and power source. Maybe one which has its direction coils in the Lagrange points, and powered by the newer solar technologies.
