if a person of a diffrent religin than yours acknowledged your holiday by wishing you a happy holiday ...say a non christian wishing a christan merry christmas.....or a christian wish some one happy hanukkah.....or a jewish person wishing a pagen a wonderfull yule....would that offend you ? why or why not ?

this was very hard all were great answers ....you all did a wonderfull job and I agree with you all.... one thing stood out ..excepting someone as they are and giving them credit is a gift.......I do not know why this was put into voting so early....but I would like to say congradulations on your first best answer........

I enjoy wishing other "happiness" or whatever is customary for their holiday and enjoy the receiving it as well. As far as I can tell, most of my multicultural acquaintances are pleased that others are interested in their culture.

Of course, for every "Merry Christmas" I hear, I will respond with "Blessed Solstice!" :-D

I Would think this was RESPECTFUL and not be offended ..

because they are acknowledging my beliefs while considering their own ... and I would definitely appreciate their warm wishes and their caring nature! (In other words -- they are considerate of the cultural differences and respect that we have different beliefs)

I wouldn't, it would be a sign of acknoledgement and respect of that person's culture.
