Both are easy for me, but definitely, writing gives you more time to select your words in a deliberate manner.

Not so much because I cannot express them verbally ... but often because my head is in a cooler place if I express them in written form. There's nothing like putting forth a great "hissy fit" when there's no one around to interrupt and you can lay your words down EXACTLY in the order and style you intend them to be. Oh baby, I do love that! To more directly answer your question though ... I don't ever recall a time when I 'couldn't' express myself verbally. As you can see, I don't shut up in either format.

It depends on the subject. If it's something personal or something that I feel strongly about, then it's usually easier for me to convey my message through writing. It keeps me on track and focused. When I try to verbalize something, I tend to get side-tracked by things like the other person's expression, their stance, my own insecurities, etc. When a subject gets too personal, I tend to "shut down" as my husband calls it. I'll just quit and never get things settled.
But if it's a general subject, a subject that will not show any weakness or vulnerability on my part, then I do better verbally.

I find it easier to express myself on paper than through verbal expresion, I feel like I have more time to think it through and make a clear thought and perspective of what I want to communicate writing it down that by verbalizing it. I feel like I come off more of an intelect by writing than I do by speaking

I prefer to use verbal conversation, but I have found I can write a book and then it can be read over and over. If someone really wants to know what I am saying over and over.

I'm usually too emotional so when I want to say something serious I'm all teary and it doesn't come out as I want...I was always good at both writing and speaking but I usually prefer writing...I get to say everything, just as I want it and without getting interrupted...

I'm definitely a better writer. I can write something and make it sound so intelligent but when I have to speak I fumble for the right thing to say.

Writing.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love to talk. Don't get me started. No, for your own sake, really don't get me started. But writing has such a capacity for getting the words just right and for people to have no excuse not to know what you actually said.
And you can do it from a distance. :)
