Trey is correct about thermometers for human use. I've seen merc thermometers for outdoor use at various stores but getting vry hard to find.

No, mercury thermometers are no longer being sold anywhere, it's an environmental issue with these, in fact in some states, it is illegal to even have them.

They're really hard to get a hold of nowadays. I would advise checking antique stores in your area. Also, post a Craigslist ad or some other online ad stating that you're looking for one. I believe it's become illegal for a store to stock and sell them, so you won't likely find one anywhere other than an antique shop or something similar.
