I am talking about a movie when referring to the above sentence. correct or not?

No. The projection screen is an actual screen onto which the movie was projected, so the screen can't roll. You need to say: "As the tape rolls and the film is projected onto the screen...."

A projector can roll, but a projection screen can't unless maybe it rolls up.
