People seem to throw them out all the time, so you may find an old Pentium II box lying about in the street - minus their hard drives. I'm currently using a Pentium III that someone chucked out a year ago. It looks like they had a problem and couldn't get it to boot. I managed to fix it in 5 minutes.

You might get lucky, in the meantime check the second hand computer market for something cheap that one careful owner wants to get rid of.

Well I'm not giving it away for free, but it is my virus sucker for basic internet tasks and its about worth its weight in aluminum. The PSU fan is going out (loudly sometimes) and I've been expecting smoke for a long time but I don't care. But wazzup 1999 I HAD a top of the line gaming PC before I got my dual-core which I barely use (like a delicate flower).

I've got 3 towers and I'd be glad to get rid of them. That's if you can come to pick them up in Bangkok (Thailand)

Try your local Freecycle group - towers often appear on mine!

See if your local council dump has a recycle depot/store - you will be surprised what stuff you can find there.
