Those are probably labor pains. They "come and go" as you stated for a couple of weeks. Soon they will become regular and labor will begin. Give your OB a call today and describe the pain......

hiya love, right firstly go see your midwife and tell her as it could be serious or it could mean nothing. now secondarly i had similar pains last week and the week before that and there was three reasons, 1) was i had a urine infection, 2) I was having slight branston hicks 3) it was where Jack ( my unborn sons name i have decided to name him that) Anyway it was where my baby was pressing down on me and was causing me pain. you are probally experiencing something similar so don't really worry about it i didn't it was more annoying to me as it hurt so i wanted to know if there was anything i could do to stop it. There wasn't, i just had and still have to put up with it (except the water infection i had anti biotics for that and now it is not as painful all the time). Although i still get stabbing pains from where my baby is pressing on nerves in my back and it is causing pain all over my lower body including my legs!! Anyway enough of me rambling, take care, i wish you all the best with your pregnancy and good luck with your labour we all need luck! =o) Be safe my love.

if it was contractions it would feel like bad menstrual cramps, not stabbing pains. I had what your describing and it was pressure from the baby's head moving down that was causing the sharp pains. I dont think its anything to worry about, but if you still having it when your doctors office opens i would just call to be safe and tell them what your feeling. They will probably have you come in and hook you up to the non stress test machine. Its just a machine that moniters the baby's heartrate and they might do an internal to check baby's position. thats what they did for me, i was fine though, and i didn't go into labor until 40 weeks and 4 days lol.

This is definately the baby bedding down getting ready to come see his/her mummy. I had the same for a couple of weeks towards the end of my pregnancy i described them as shooting pains they felt like they were going right up my .. . . . you know what and through my bottom some days. If i was stood up they would make me raise one leg and lean over to a side and bite my lip for a second until it passed. If you are at all concerned tho you should aways ask you Midwife at your antenatal appointment i'm sure she will say the same. Good luck and enjoy baby x

It sounds like the babies head putting alot of pressure pain there. It could also be labour nearly ready to start as you are all most full term now.If the pain becomes unbearable start heading to the maternity hospital.I wish you all the best with the delivery.Labour pains become more intense and stronger as it progresses.

Better get yourself checked out to be on the safe side. I had this at times during my pregnancy and on checking with my midwife she said it was either where I had moved suddenly and pulled myself or it was ligaments stretching to cope with the growing uterus. You should always check with a doctor/midwife when experiencing pain during pregnancy.

Hi,
take a warm bath. It would soothe and relax your muscles, so you wouldn't feel the pain as much. Hope it helps at least a bit.
