Ok, I've already looked at all my options, but I'm afraid they are very limited. I can't get dsl or cable, and sattelite is way to expensive for me. I've heard that broadband cards only work well in big cities, but I want to know how much better do they work in rural areas compared to dialup. I get a pretty good cell phone reception where I live, and I don't know if this tells you anything or not, but the mobile web on my phone loads pretty fast, and I can stream video clips as well, I can barely do that with the dial up. Please help, am I stuck with crappy dial up forever?

Sprint and Verizon seem to have the fastest #g broadband connections. You can get a laptop card from them --not sure the price. The unlimited data subscription runs roughly $50 per month. Some manufacturer's also make routers that will use these broadband cards if you want home networking. look at the linksys, netgear and belkin sites.

I knew one who got a sprint card for 50 per month along with cell charges in a moderate city. Ive got to tell you, you must get broadband no matter what the cost. If its $80us per month, pay that it is well worth it and your computing options will be multiplied.

Sorry to hear your dillemma, here is your only solution:

Laptop EDGE (or EVDO) card: $50 with contract or $150 without.

Nearly $90 per month

Laptop; your own call, they are all powerful enough for basic use.

You already verified that mobile streaming is sufficiently fast.
