Use this formula:
Length x Width x Height (all in inches) divided by 231= gallons of water
29.5" x 15" x 22.5"= 9956.25
9956.25 divided by 231= 43.1 GALLONS
You tank has a capacity of about 43 GALLONS , if filled to the brim with only water. Since tank is seldom filled to the brim( we leave about an inch or two from the top) and also contain gravel, rocks, driftwood, etc. we have to deduct how much water these will displaced. We can only estimate this, and say about 3 gallons are displaced, so the total is approximately 40 GALLONS.
REMEMBER: All dimensions must be in inches for you to use this formula. If dimensions are in centimeters, first convert them into inches. 231 is a constant.

It holds approximately 10 gallons. When including an average tank that size, full of water, it weighs about 170 lbs.

Well, the easiest way would be to convert all dimensions to centimeters, multiply them by one another, take the answer and divide by 1000, and you would have the number of liters in your tank.
That is to say, 1000 cubic centimeters equals one liter...

29.5" = 74.93cm
22.5" = 57.15 cm
15" = 38.1cm
74.93 * 57.15 * 38.1 = 163,154cc = 163 litres = 35.8 gallons

You should probably empty the tank, and then re fill it with gallons, and count how many it takes.
