Do they think that this was the first close election in History? Why do you think the founding fathers made this system with these specific courses of action?

because they did. They did make the decision in GW Bush's favor and that isn't in dispute, The final decision did go to the Supreme Court, that is kind of an established fact. I think what you really mean is why is it believed by some that G.W. Bush "Stole" the election. The fact that it went to the Supreme Court to review and render their decision is an established fact.

EDIT:Tuesday, Dec. 12—The U.S. Supreme Court rules in Bush v. Gore 7–2 to reverse the Florida Supreme Court, which had ordered manual recounts in certain counties. The Court contends that the recount was not treating all ballots equally, and was thus a violation of the Constitution's equal protection and due process guarantees. The Supreme Court of Florida would be required to set up new voting standards and carry them out in a recount. The justices, however, split 5–4 along partisan lines about implementing a remedy. Five justices maintain that this process and the recount must adhere to the official deadline for certifying electoral college votes: midnight, Dec. 12; other justices question the importance of this date. Since the Court makes its ruling just hours before the deadline, it in effect ensures that it is too late for a recount. The decision generates enormous controversy. Those objecting to the ruling assert that the Supreme Court, and not the electorate, has effectively determined the outcome of the presidential election. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg writes in a scathing dissent, “the Court’s conclusion that a constitutionally adequate recount is impractical is a prophecy the Court’s own judgment will not allow to be tested. Such an untested prophecy should not decide the Presidency of the United States.”

Well, the '00 election was decided by the Supreme Court for the first time in American history. Even those conservative goofs likely now understand the limits of intelligent government if handed over to contemporary Republicans.

I have said this many times, and it bears repeating. Al Gore could not even carry his own home state of Tennessee in the 2000 election. Had he won Tennessee, he would have the electoral votes needed, regardless of Florida, and would have been President.
To repeat, had Gore won Tennessee in 2000, he would have been President, even with Bush taking Florida. Don't blame the Supreme Court, Republicans, or Florida because Al Gore could not win at home.

Monkeydick - You're a liar. The polls in Ohio stayed open because the Republican run Board of Elections put very few polling booths in urban (Democrat) areas - causing long lines at the polls of minorities waiting to vote. Bush had nothing to do with it.
If anyone is guilty of voter intimidation, it would be the Republicans in this state. Ken Blackwell did everything in his power to deliver Ohio to Bush... including refusing to allow registration that wasn't on a certain thickness of paper, sending out feeler postcards to fish out those who may have changed addresses and boot them from the voting rolls, challenging minorities at the voting stations on their address and right to vote, and disallowing thousands of absentee ballots to be counted from the troops overseas.

Because the Supreme coourt did decide the '00 elcetions and thye can't let go. they forget that their guy had been the VP for 8 yeqrs and thus had a little pull with th eocurt. they ar eterrible losers and have been for 7 years now.

24 of 25 Florida precincts that reported problems in '00 were monitored by Democrats. Ye they went after Bush for cheating even after they tried to block the military vote.

Bush even had the Ohio polls stay open late in '04 because large numbers of voters (mainly in Dem precincts ) whined they could not make it to the polls. (this o the heals of calling republicans and lieing about the election date and voting places. Thwey even pried the W's off the White House key boards in '00 to show how they wanted to rip the nation apart for the Bush term.

I'm in the military overseas and my vote in '04 didn't even get counted bc it was an absentee ballot from Ohio and it wouldn't have made a difference or so they told me. Every vote counts my @$$.
