I am 27 and admittedly i am overweight and for the past two weeks i have been feeling really rough my symptoms are headaches, feeling sick and a general feeling of being completely out of it. I was recently diagnosed with having a herniated stomach and gallbladder problems and it has been recommend that i have my gallbladder removed. I have been under a great deal of stress recently and i am in a job that is not keeping my mind occupied and that i find rather boring. I also have a low progesterone level and desperately want to start a family with my partner but i think that i should get my weight and health under control first. Up until about 6 years ago i was a healthy size 10 but now i have gone up to a 18/20 for no apparent reason - could this be the hormone in balance? I am really struggling to get everything back under control and my doctor is not very pro active with these things - any help would be greatly appreciated as this is really getting me down.

Sorry you're having a rough time. I am not a doctor (and I hope you will be seeing yours asap no matter what answers you get on here) but from my own experience I would pass on the following advice to you:

1. Take a pregnancy test.
2. Get tested for diabetes.

Your local pharmacist will do both these tests for you for free.

3. See your GP with your symptoms and further tests.

If you've gained such a lot of weight in a relatively short time there are conditions which could have contributed like underactive thyroid, and polycystic ovaries. Get the OK from your GP to join WeightWatchers if possible. It's not a "diet" - it's a friendly support group for those struggling with their commitment to a healthy (and ultimately much happier and fulfilling) lifestyle. I went from a size 18 to a size 8 in a little less than a year.

Good luck!

Hi I really hope that your medical problems are sorted out before starting a family.A disfunctional gallbladder could also be keeping the weight on you.It could also be caused from hormone inbalances or even a thyroid problem. Please have your Doctor check these things out for you.If you are not happy with the Doctor who has been seeing you please go seek another opinion.I wish you all the best in getting your health back on track soon.

I've had gallstones, I understand why your down about thse cause it is THEE worst pain imaginable! I ended up with a major attack 10 weeks after I hd my daughter & thy discovered Id also developed pancreatitus, my gall bladder was removed a week later( I was kept in hspital) as it ruptured lol.

My advice would be if your not happy with your doctor & feel he's not very sympathetic to yor needs, see another doctor. Get your health prolems sorted out first & the rest will fall into place through time.

Keep your chin up & keep smiling

x

Yes, this sounds like it could be a hormone imbalance. Because of what you are noticing with your doctor I would recommend getting another opinion and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently use.
