I would be anywhere but here, and i would love to be spending time with someone who i know i can't. (but i can always dream, can't i).

With Sophie. I wrote her today,
My Dear Sophie,
I remember the beautiful sunrise on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. How beautiful it was, and how aware/unaware of how happy I was!
Perhaps what was between us was like a marriage [you should have married me]. Maybe, although I lost. I was in the system, and I did not realize that enough. I left, and I have tumbled down, worse and worse [I should have tried to stay at any price]. You worked so hard for me. Once I lost you and my ties with the other people there, at UVa, I lost everything. One thing I learned, to be strong. Now I am feeling better again. I wanted to end this black period of my life and I cannot. I am forced to fight. The tumor marker has stared to go down. I would have preferred to die. I want to see my friends in Ch-ville and I cannot. I do not get any help, although I would like to say hello to you and perhaps to many other people. If I do not come most likely I will lose this privilege. [Glo has not sold anything for me lately]. Now I am condemned to live and get treatments!
Thanksgiving is coming. You might have already left in order to see your relatives and friends. What a happy thing to do! I love everyone you love. You are smart and know how to have a beautiful life. You also know how to make happy those around you.
I will always remain your devoted friend. I cannot have any other feelings.

PS. I am still happy [in a different country, in Europe, battling cancer] that I can be with my brother and my sister. I love them so much.

Right where I am, in LA. The sun is shinning the grass is green,
and there's never been such a day, in LA.
Tomorrow we will have a nice supper during the special day
of thanksgiving.

Since we all know we cannot turn back time, or recover lost opportunity, the truth is I would rather be right where I am right now with all the lessons I have learned in my lifetime. If I could turn back time or transport my self to anyplace with anyone, it wouldn't change anything. The place to be is where ever you are right now, where you can make a difference, no matter where you have been.
Who would I want to be with? Someone who cares.

I'd be in Yosemite National Park. I've just been scanning in the Black & white photos the missus took in 1999, and they are a mess. So it would be nice to go back and try again.
Who with? A better photographer than the wife!
