Is it because they think that:

* If they dont get fed within the next 5 seconds, they will die a horrible death?

* If they dont get picked-up and held RIGHT NOW, they will be so lonely that it will damage them socially for the rest of their lives?

* When they go to bed, the evil Boogie Monster will 'get them' and gobble them up?

* If they put a jacket on, they will die from over-heating on a cold winter's day?

* If that pram isnt moving anymore, its going to internally combust and explode?

Jeez people... I was trying to invent a humurous question (which I obviously failed to do) and see what sort of answers that would come out of it...

No need to get all 'hupty' about it... Sheez

"cause, in reality, they are vulnerable and need attention RIGHT NOW.

I just love it when a newborn screams their lungs out- but they're so unformed that it comes out as a little wail. It's soooo cute. They really need us grown ups to look after them.

And then on the other hand is your sanity.... but hey! YOU are the grown-up. Life will be tough for a while- in fact, you may understand why some animals eat their young- but we are humans. Human babes are particularly needy in the animal kingdom. Sad but true. Hang in there. Do you have family or a good friend that you can call for relief? Probably not- we all think that we will be the perfect parent with the perfect babe. HONESTLY, if you need a break, just to catch your breath, others you know will understand. Reach out. ...
In the meantime,

Cheers and sunshine...

We are their dreams, their peace, their life. They're only babes for such a short time- look after them. Even if you don't see why you have to.

Surely you can't think that adult rationale can apply to a -? month old baby???
You and I might know these things are unlikely to happen but baby is being- A BABY.
Perhaps you should try and be A PARENT instead of dismissing baby's needs as irrelevant or unfounded.

They are humans without vocabulary skills so remember that when you have such a cold, indifferent, judgemental attitude to a creature you are responsible for- completely.

Maybe its YOUR issues of inadequecy that you should be asking advice on, not for something EVERY single baby/mother experiences every day.
It's hard to think it may be you with the real problem, but once you realise this, you will deal with a baby better than you obviously are.
Try getting assessed for PND if you continue to feel such animosity and inadequacy around your baby.

The only thing I put it down to is the fact that screaming is the only way they have of expressing themselves. A newborn baby doesn't know how to laugh, smile, talk, anything. The only thng they can do is scream. And they do. A lot!

look at it through your infants eyes.
It got evicted from a place where it was warm, safe from the world and offered a constant supply of life sustaining nutrients without any notice at all...you'd be pissed too!
